Bella

My alarm blared, waking me up from my peaceful slumber.

The sun's rays penetrated through my blinds, falling beautifully with magnificent hues on my black bed covers. The multi-colored birds were joyously chirping, occasionally sitting by my bedside window exploring the inside of my room.

Today was the day.

My pre-birthday party.

I had been anticipating this day since we had come up with the idea, my mom and I.

Trying to fall asleep had been problematic, I tossed and turned till the wee hours of the morning due to the excitement that had been bubbling within me.

I got out of the covers, stretched my limbs until I heard snapping from my joints.

'So satisfying,' I mumbled to myself, fixing my bed before heading to the bathroom.

In the bathroom I did my usual hygiene process; brushing my teeth, combing out my hair, just the usual girl stuff.

Once I was done I made my way towards the kitchen and found both mom and dad laughing-probably something they saw on the television- they looked so adorable together.

"Morning mom and dad, so are you guys ready for today?" I asked with a big smile pasted on my face.

"About that cupcake, something came up. I have to leave earlier than anticipated." At the mention of that, my smile was replaced by a sorrowful look.

"It's okay dad, there'll be other birthdays." I tried smiling but failed miserably.

All the energy I had a few hours ago had dispelled. I felt so, so, ughh! I didn't even know how I felt.

"We called Anna, we thought you might want to spend some time with her. It's still your birthday honey." Mom said trying to cheer me up; It did work a little.

"Thanks, mom." I walked towards her and dad; got into a warm group hug before saying, "I'll wait for her in the kitchen."

"Okay cupcake, I'll bring you something back from Cali, I promise."

"Thanks, dad, I'd really love that. Nothing too fancy though; we'll go all out on my 18th birthday okay!"

"Yes ma'am, your wish is my command."

"Mom, where on earth did you find dad?"

"Honestly honey, I have no idea. I must have been blind when I married him." Mom stated pretending to be serious.

"Both of you do know that I'm still here right?" Dad chuckled and folded his hands then continued on, "As for you my beautiful wife, on the contrary, you didn't find me but I found you; and I'm glad I did because..."

"Okay, that's my cue to leave you love birds, carry on. I'll be in the kitchen eating, once both of you are done playing Romeo and Juliet, you can join me or not. The choice is yours really. Choose wisely." With that said I turned and made my way towards food heaven.

As if sensing that I was making her favorite turkey sandwich, Anna made her way towards the kitchen rubbing together her hands.

I knew the look she had on at that moment, she was planning something. The million-dollar question was what?

"I came at the right moment, you even made my fav. I love you, Bel." She said while taking the other half of the sandwich and taking a huge chunk of it.
