August's POV

Since the day she left, I noticed the distance she kept between us. She was back to being the cold and lonely Anais. All I could do was watch her from my window. It broke my heart seeing her drift away from me. Was it wrong of me to tell her the truth? I guess she's just confused and can't believe about it.

I've lived for 400 years loving the same woman over and over again and I promised to myself to cry for that same woman. Death keeps getting her away from me but because of our love, fate has decided to give us favorable chances. I remember myself sitting on a bench under the twinkling stars, wondering if she's on the other side, trying to talk to me too.

It almost took me a decade to accept that both of us had the fate of meeting each other but always ending up leaving one of us behind. We tried rewriting our fate but we still end up falling to our demise and it pains me to think of this.

I didn't see Anais at school the other day and yesterday. It seems like she's avoiding me but I understand why. Who would believe in something crazy like that? I understand her but I can't hide the pain no matter how hard I try. I feel so blue seeing her so distant from me.

I tried to shove off the feeling and breathed deeply. I walked towards our room and finally saw her today. I began to get her attention but she never dared to even look at me. I just sat on my chair and put my bag beside me, resting my chin on my palm, and stared at her. And soon enough, Mr. D'Grey entered the chaotic room, bringing with him his lecture book.

My mind was blank the whole hour as I kept on staring at Anais, wondering if she ever noticed me today. My attention was on her until the bell rang. How can I get her to talk to me and explain everything?

I saw her leaving the room so I trailed behind her but as soon as I was outside, someone stopped me. I saw girls drooling at him and were giggling by his side. I looked at him sternly. He tapped my shoulder and told me to meet him at the school gym. What is it this time?

We are now in the gym and the silence is deafening. When times like this happen, it could only mean that something urgent came up.

I was about to ask him about it but he immediately said, "The Queen is looking for you."

"Why?" I asked, keeping my stern look.

"I don't know the reason why she wants to see you but I think it's something urgent," he replied.

"Okay, I'll go see her tomorrow night," I said and he just nodded, leaving the gym. It must be about it.

"Good evening Mrs. Addington- I mean..." I paused and waited for her to say her name. Anais once mentioned that her mom and dad had an anullment so she doesn't carry the surname of her ex-husband anymore.

"Ms. Lorraine," she corrected and smiled.

"Uhmmm, is Anais home?" I asked, straight to the point.

"Yes she is. Honey, our neighbor slash your classmate is here," she called out.

"Tell him I'm not here," she called out from her room. Really Anais?

"Wait here young lad," she said and climbed upstairs. I waited patiently and I couldn't stop my heart from beating faster and my hands are getting sweaty. After a few moment, a lady wearing a black sun dress came downstairs as she undid her pony tail and shook out her hair. The very woman that captured my heart for centuries.

"Uh...h-hello," I greeted and stuttered.

"What are you up to this time?" she asked, creasing her eyebrows.
