Trigger warning: guns
Word count: 998
Pairing: Loki x ReaderHe was like a flash of lightning. He was beautiful and brought light into my world, but he left so quickly. I hardly ever saw him. He was only there on the stormy days when I was at my worst. Or when I was in danger. His presence was a mystery to me. I never understood why he came or why he left. But I still got excited when I saw his face. I had seen him on the news. He had killed people and destroyed most of the city.
For other people, he brought death and misery. But for me, he brought hope and light, and I have no idea why I let him. He hadn't harmed anyone since he started showing up. He acted different. I adore this side of him. I trusted that he would stay this way and be better.

Today was just like every other day. Nothing new. Nothing interesting. I woke up to the sound of my screaming alarm. The horrid melody chased out the sweet sound of my dreams. I slowly opened my eyes and sighed. I lay there for a while deciding if I should go back to sleep or not. I made my choice and threw my legs over the side of the bed.I pushed myself forward and almost fell. I stood up straight and slowly walked to the bathroom while rubbing my eyes. I let my clothes slowly hit the floor then I stepped into the shower. It was way too hot. I jumped back. Once I caught my balance I reached in and turned down the hot water. I waited until steam wasn't pouring out of shower then I slowly took an overly cautious step in.
I let the warm water droplets fall onto my skin. I realized that I would be late for work if I didn't hurry, so I rushed to finish showering. I stepped out with my eyes closed. I slipped on the wet floor, and I knew I would hit my head on the sink. There was no avoiding it now. But right when I thought that it was too late I felt arms around me, and suddenly my face was against someone's chest.
I was so grateful. I didn't know who it was or why they were here, but they saved me. Then it hit me. How did they get in? Then the fear faded as another, stronger feeling invaded my head. Embarrassment. I don't have on clothes. I don't have on clothes. I DON'T HAVE ON CLOTHES. Oh no.
Whoever it was hadn't moved at all. I would've thought it was a statue. At least they weren't hurting me. I took a small step backward but kept my eyes closed. Then I heard whoever it was take a deep breath. That made me curious, so I opened my eyes. The first thing I saw was eyes filled with wonder and curiosity. Then he turned around.
He reached his arm out and grabbed my towel. He then turned with his eyes closed and handed it to me. Then the green eyes opened again. They were amazing. And suddenly I wasn't looking into those magical eyes anymore. He was gone without a trace. I would've thought I had imagined the whole thing if it weren't for the fact that I was alive.
Maybe I really did fall, and I'm in a coma. Maybe this is all a weird dream. Maybe I'm going insane. Maybe... There weren't anymore explanations for all of this. None of it seemed to be real. There was no way that it could've been. He disappeared in an instant.
I went to my room to get dressed. I pulled on my uniform and went to get my phone off of my nightstand. There, on my phone, was a piece of paper. On it was neat handwriting said: Be careful next time.
-Time skip-
Work was over. My feet were sore. I had a massive headache. I couldn't concentrate. It was so dark outside. I was walking home and passed a dark alley when I heard a low chuckle. Shivers ran up my spine, and breathing became difficult. I knew I was in danger. Then a man holding a gun stepped out of the shadows. There wasn't going to be a hallucination saving me this time.
It was weird, when I saw his finger move over the trigger all of my fear disappeared. I knew I couldn't stop it. The trigger was pulled. I heard the deafening sound of the gun firing. I readied myself for the pain but it never came. I hadn't realized that I closed my eyes until they were opened once again. Before I could see anything, something covered my view. Someone was standing in front of me. They backed away.
It was the same man from this morning. But he didn't disappear this time. He walked me home. I was used to the silence already, so it shocked me when he actually spoke. He said, "My name is Loki." Then he gave me a small smile.
It felt like I was under a spell. He entranced me. It felt like nothing else existed. The only thing that I could think about was his jet black hair and beautiful green eyes. I saw him blushing. Seeing his red face made me aware of my own. "Do you want to come in?" He stared at me for awhile. The curious look in his eye was replaced by a doubtful one, and I realized that his hand was squeezed into a fist at his side. "I'm sorry did I say something wrong, um Loki?"
He looked down, and his whole body relaxed. "You did nothing wrong. What is your name?" I forgot about that, I was too busy admiring everything about him. "Y/n." We made eye contact, and he smiled. "That is a magnificent name. I would absolutely love it if you allowed me to come in."
