"Jungkook? I didn't know you came here."
Jungkook whirled around, gulping and scrambling to put the microphone back. He'd been overjoyed to find a studio hidden in the facility, though it had taken him a few tries to figure out that an old tune was the code to unlock the door. He couldn't help coming back, again and again, even if he couldn't form words while he sang.
Would Soomin try to take that away?
Soomin raised an eyebrow at him, walking to pick the microphone up again. "This is my training room," he said. "There are three or four other singers here. Fighters."
Jungkook shivered, avoiding Soomin's eyes. They were cold and angry.
"Jungkook, listen to me," Soomin said. "You don't want to fight, right? It's dangerous for you to be in here. The council could get ahold of it and make you fight."
Jungkook hugged himself, stepping away. The council. The mysterious group of antis that ran the world, deciding what was acceptable for people to wear, say, and do. The leaders of the entire fighting force. The reason he'd lost his voice.
"Please," Soomin said. "Promise me you won't come here again. They'll hurt you." He took a deep breath, and when Jungkook looked at him, his eyes were shining with unshed tears. "I don't think I could take that."
Jungkook swallowed, wide-eyed. Soomin moved closer, taking him by the upper arms. He was muscular. Something felt off, wrong. Jungkook started to back away, but he couldn't move.
"Promise me," Soomin said. "Promise me you won't be like her."
Jungkook swallowed, looking down, and nodded.
Is Soomin good? Is Soomin bad? :P
