To love a stranger (A Josh Hutcherson fanfic)

Decisions

I wake up in the middle of the night and sit up right in my bed. I am alone in the room, but something doesn't feel right. I have this dark clouded feeling in my stomach. I hit the nurse call button and a few seconds later a male nurse walks in.

"Miss Smith, is everything alright?" He asks.

"Where is my baby?" I blurt out and he takes a few steps into the room.

"In the nursery. Would you like me to go get him for you?" He asks and I nod.

"Please. Jason Matthew Hutcherson is his name." I say and he smiles.

"I know. I'll be right back with him." He says and then he leaves. I sit there and I can't shake this horrible feeling that something is wrong. I grab my phone off of the side table and I text Josh.

"Hey babe. Let me know when you get this. I have this horrible feeling. I just need to know you're okay. Love you." I hit send and I set my phone down then lay back. A few minutes later the nurse comes back in with Jason, who has started crying.

"Somebody misses his mommy." He says and then he hands Jason to me.

"Thank you." I say and he nods.

"If you need anything just hit the button." He says and then he goes to leave, but he stops. "Would you like the curtains closed?"

"Please." I say and he nods then pulls the curtains closed. I begin to feed Jason and I lean back. I watch him as he drinks. I hear my phone buzz and I pick it up. It's a message from Josh. 

"Hey babe, everything is fine here. Are you guys okay? Do you want me to come see you?" He replies quickly. I sit there and think for a moment.

"No it's alright. I just wanted to know that you were safe. Get some rest, baby." I reply after a minute and then I set the phone down and lay Jason on my shoulder to burp him. After he burps  like a little man.

"Oh my goodness. You sound just like your daddy when he burps." I say as I smile. He coos and then whines. 

"What? Are you still hungry?" I ask and he starts feeding again. I sigh and turn the TV on in the room. I flip through the channels and stop on a movie called "Journey to the Center of the Earth" with Josh and Brendan Fraser. I watch the movie with a small smile on my face and soon Jason falls asleep in my arms. I burp him once more before I settle him on my chest and continue to watch the movie. I feel my eyes to get heavy about the time Josh and Brendan are running from the T-rex, and before I know it i'm asleep.

I feel someone begin to remove Jason from my chest and without opening my eyes I throw the remote at their head.

"Ow!" I hear a familiar voice yell and I open my eyes. Josh stands there rubbing his forehead and I become aware of two different people snickering in the room. I look to see the male nurse from earlier and a female nurse laughing in the corner. 

"Oh. I'm sorry baby. I didn't know it was you." I say and he makes a face and I laugh sheepishly. 

"Okay. I'm gonna try this again." He says and he gently picks Jason up off my chest. I sit up and try to stretch as he gently lays Jason in his little plastic cot. The male nurse from earlier comes over and takes Jason's cot.

"We are just going to do another check up. Standard procedure." He says and I smile and nod.

"Thank you, Ryan." I say catching his name on the name tag. He nods and takes Jason out of the room. Josh sits next to my bed as the female nurse comes in and checks my vitals.
