There is a man who tries to stay,
Whenever you are in your worst place.
He likes to stand over you with a sly smirk,
Whispering all your imperfections in your ear.
He carries an umbrella to protect himself,
From the harsh comments that are thrown your way.
In fact, he is the one who encourages your mind,
To believe every word that is untrue.
He strolls along his merry way,
As you walk in depression.
When a feeling starts to stir inside of you,
And in the man that tries to stay.
There's another man who stands beside you,
Who always has His hand over you.
To make you feel loved and beautiful.
To make you love yourself and love others.
This other man stands tall and confident,
Making the man who tries to stay tiny in comparison.
This other man tells you that things in life will work out,
If you follow Him and trust in Him.
The man that tries to stay frowns upon the other man,
And tries to tell you that this person isn't real,
That He will never love you and that you will forever be alone.
That you won't feel joy or love unless you do the horrible things he suggest.
The other man shakes his head and takes your hand,
Leading you down the street with a soft smile on his face.
His warm glow makes you feel at ease,
Unlike the cold, darkness of the man that tries to stay.
The loving man tells you that
Struggles and hard times will still be there,
But believing and trusting in Him,
Things will always work out for the good in the end.
The dark man lingers around you,
Like a lion hunting for his prey,
Trying to get close enough to you,
But backs off when the light shines too brightly for him.
The darkness is still there,
Waiting for you to make a mistake.
Trying to make you believe that the loving one will leave you,
And will never come back when you try to reach for him again.
Keep this in mind, though,
That the dark, cold, and unloving man
Will only try to stay in your life and lead you wrong,
But the loving, warm, and kind-hearted man
Will always stay and never leave you alone.
