Sword Art Online Fanfiction Day 1: Link start

In a blue flash of light I was taken to arincrad, I looked down at my hands, they were so realistic I felt like I was dreaming, "this is so cool!" I shouted before I swiped down my hand, causing the player menu to pop up. immediately i went to my inventory to see what I had.

_tin breastplate(equipped),

black shirt(equipped),

black pants(equipped),

copper dha(unequipped)

I read. I clicked on the little circle nexed to the copper dha(sword), suddenly a blue arc of light appeared infront of my face, I streched out my arms(closing the menu in the process,) letting the sheathed blade to fall into my arms, as the suprisingly heavy weapon came into contact with my hands, my arms buckled dropping the object and instantly shattering it into a hundred blue crystals before fadeing into nothing, I dropped down "crap!" Unamused as everyone else around me I went over to a Npc shop, I stood in front of an old Npc lady in a yellow dresslike robe. "ok how does this work?" I asked the non playable character. "welcome to malory's general goods and armory"

It greeted, accompanyed by a pop-up with a blue O and a red X, "do you want to see my inventory?" The pop-up read, I pressed my finger down on the circle and two inventorys opened nexed to eachother, mine and the shops I guessed, I scrolled through the leftmost inventory and came to the weapons section "silverfang dagger" It read, "420 col." "dang I only have 100 starting col," I mumbled and activated the 25-100 col range. The display showed about 14 items, I chose a copper Kampilan(sword) for 80 col,"dang this sucks" I sighed, purchasing the sword. "well, while im here" I thought outloud and activated the food-only icon, and scrolled through and bought a bread roll for 2 col and a banana for 3 col. Then I closed the window with the red X in the up left corner of the shops inventory screen and proceeded right to the town's exit. I ran through the grass before ecountering a boar-like creature, it charged at me from twenty meters away and I held my sword ready in my right hand, suddenly it begins to glow purple and vibrate a little as if pent up energy was overflowing inside, the boar was in range and I thrust the tip of the blade into its right eye, the boar explodes into crystal shards and dissapears.

A screen popped in front if my face "level up" was displayed on the white background with a blue circle beneath the text, I pressed the circle and the panel turned to a page that showed stat increases, I had a choice between health/strength and agility, and I had three stat points so I put all three into agility then went to the nexed page, forgeting that I was in a field open to monster spawns, I was charged at from the right and smashed into the ground cuting hy health bar in half, I quickly sat up and lunged for my sword, and held it like a stick as the wolf pounced on me, with the sharp end in its mouth its health was going down as steadly as the weapons durability, I finaly forced it off and slashed at it with a right swing aimed at its side, orange and red binary could be seen inside the pixelated wound, it turned and jumped at me again, this time I doged to the left of it, sticking the Kampilan up its butt and consequently killing it. After that I decided to find a safe spot to continue leveling, I saw a shady looking tree to sit under and continue leveling up and eat, I could choose a skill or level up any I currently had, I had one skill point to use so I scrolled through the page, I only had basic sword skills, "wow, these can reach level one thousand?" I marveled. I decided to get parry beacause I was more of a fan toward passive and always-active skills, Then the leveling window closed. I looked up to see someone get knocked down by a boar and explode into tiny shards, "ragequit already?" I shouted over to the person previously accompanying him jokeingly and opened my inventory to get out my banana, carefull not to drop it. after eating I looked up and saw a player suddenly combust into crystal shards for no appearant reason, "mustve had his helmet pulled off by his mom or something," I assured myself noteing how it was getting late in game time, probably parralell to real time. I reluctantlt stood up from the now warm root formation and stared at the setting sun, it was starting to get dark but my parents wouldnt be home for at least two more hours, so I decided to stay on a bit longer, I turned left to face a small group of players fending off two boars and a dire wolf, I checked my durability, "that pig did a lot of damage" I thought to myself and charged into the back of a turned boar and stuck the blade down to the hilt in the back of the boar untill it burst into crystals oh so like the other monsters I had destroyed earlier today, it droped raw boar hide. I quickly closed the loot menu with the circle and swiped my blade at an attacking boar, halting its bite before it reached my leg, it regrouped at ten meters away and started charging, suddenly two more boars spawned behind me, surrounding the group of me and three others by three boars and a wolf, The charging boar was impaled by a spear wielding player, then the player directly behind me dissapeared, " lots of force logouts at this time" I exclamed before sliceing a boars grey nose off, " yeah, I find it weird that the killed players haven't respawned yet." the sphere wielding Player answered, "well mabye its night and some people's moms removed their nervegear or something, and then they just go to sleep" I replyed "no way man, the grand opening was three hours ago and, dosent it seem like a coincidence that none of the players that died respawned? I mean, I know people who would stay up all night on this type of stuff." Came his voice, I pondered this and almost got my leg bit off by one of the tusked swines. "well' I said 'mabye time is slower in game." "mabye" he aggreed. I held up my blade, it glowed green and vibrated slightly untill I brought it down onto the wolf that circled around to me in a vertical slash, cutting its face in half and slowly draining its hp from the bleeding status effect I gave it, in a few seconds it evaporated into monster dust (shards) and we were left with one boar that was easly overpowered by the three of us left. "wheew, what an exersize!" I yawned,"hey whats your name?" I asked the spear weilding player, "zachary" he answerd "whats yours? "mark" I said back to him, "good fight" I complemented him and he shook my outstreched hand, "see you around" I told him heading back to town with the 52 col I had gained plus the 15 I still had. In town I found an inn and payed one col for one night "wow, the price system in this game is messed up" I laughed and went into my 2nd floor room, it had a single bed and a metal grate table, I sat at the table and took out my bread-it looked dry, "oh well, food is food" and shoved it in my mouth, "needs butter" I said. I went over to my bed and layed down to log out, I swiped the menue open, went to options and clicked the logou....."its gone!" Confused, I left the room and started down the hall of the inn to leave, I opened the dark redwood door and stepped out into the cobble streets of arincrad, litterd with children and adults alike, conversing without a care in the world. "mabye there is a manual logout zone in the main plaza." I guessed and stepped into the large circumference at the center of town, heading toward the fountain spewing water out of the top, flowing down the sides into the pool resting at the bottom, spraying anyone within two feet with a mist like that of a lite drizzle. "hmmm..." I hummed while searched for a button lever or pad to step on. "nothing" I finally gave up and went over to a guy in yellow armor, "hey, how do you log out?" I asked. "oh, you just.." He said swiping down to his menu, "click this little...." He froze, "where is it!!" He yelled suddenly persperating a bit, "i dont know, I already checked there" I told him. ignoreing me he rapidly slammed his finger on the "call game-master" button, it didnt pick up, I looked up, without realizing it, a red dome surrounded the entire town center, "whats going on?" I asked whatever thing seemed to be playing tricks on me. I looked up, light flashes popping up around the plaza brought confused players all to one area, after all the players had appeared and filled up the giant spawn area, "whats that?" A girl in pink clothing pointed at a flashing dark red hexagon at the top of the dome which I then realized was entirely made of transparent red hexagons. Then, what looked like blood or dark red tar dripped and poured from the cracks between the surrounding hexagons untill it formed into a red robed figure covering his face with the hood "attention players" he announced proudly, raising his arms with a "beholding" posture "welcome to my world, my name is kayaba akihiko, as of this moment, I am the sole person who can control this world, I'm sure you've already noticed that the logout button is missing from the main menu, but this is not a defect in the game, I repeat, this is not a defect in the game,it is a feature of sword art online, you cannot log out of Sao yourselves, and no one on the outside can shut down or remove the nerve gear, should this be attempted, the transmitter inside the nerve gear will make powerful microwave, destroying your brain and thus ending your life, unfortunately, serval player's friends and families have ignored this warning and have attempted to remove the nerve gear, as a result, two hundred and thirteen players are gone forever, from both aincrad and the real world." after a short moment of silence, the game master slid his gloved finger down opening his menu and then a series of internet news popups formed around him, and orbited around him," as you can see, news organizations across the world are reporting all of this, including with us, thus, you can assume that the danger of a nerve gear being removed is now minimal. I hope you will relax and attempt to clear game, but I want you to remember this clearly, there is no longer any method to revive someone within the game. if your hp drops to zero, your avitar will be forever lost and simultaneously the nerve gear will destroy your brain. there is only one means of escape; to complete the game, you are presently at the lowest floor on aincrad:floor 1, if your make your way through the dungeon and defeat the next floor boss, you may advance to the next level, defeat the final boss on floor 100 and you will clear the game." "what?" I thought, "I never expected to actually clear this game, who ever heard of someone beating an MMORPG?" after a short pause kayaba continued with his speech " right now you are probably wondering why? Why would kayaba akihiko developer of sword art online and nerve gear, do all this? My goal has already been achieved, I created sword art online for one reason, to create this world and intervene in it. And now it is complete, this ends the tutorial for the official sword art online launch. good luck players." with those last words kayaba akihiko dissolved into a red smoke and his cloak faded out of existence accompanied by a malfunctioning screeching noise. at first there was silence, clearly everyone in the plaza was a shocked as I was and could only think if this was real or not and hope to God for the latter, then there was one scream followed by several others until the entire plaza was completely filled with chaos and panic. luckily for me being at the very edge of the plaza I ran out into the empty streets and alleys and set down in the most secluded place I could find; underneath the desk of an abandoned shop, and cried untill it became imposible because my eyes hurt so much and they were no longer producing tears, I watched as what was left of my old self slid off my face and shattered on the cobblestone road. I stood up, "no! if I die, it will not be like this" I thought with rage, my broken mind not thinking rationaly I ran for the town exit and into the field of grass, swinging wildly at boars and suprisingly injuring a few and even killing one before my hp bar was completely drained, I pointed my sword drunkenly at a charging boar; my hp in the middle of the red zone, suddenly I was pulled behind someone, triping and falling on my back as i was ripped from my "i dont care anymore" mindset, the person who pulled me behind them cleaved both of the the boar's tusks off with an artlike grace in one swift upward motion using the basic starting dha then proceeding to slash its belly multiple times while it was still airborne, the monster fractured untill it became unrecognizable blue dust and faded away. after a long pause of silence the person who just saved my life turned around "what the hell are you doing?" she yelled "abby?" I gasped, still recovering from falling on my back "what are you..." "yes, I bought the game to" she interupted, "now get up," she commanded then grasped and pulled on my hand, I got on my feet. "drink this" she shoved a glass vial at my chest. holding the clear container, I locked my teeth around the glass cap of the bottle.
