Chapter ten:

Cyra suppressed another groan in her throat when she could see the waves of disapproval flooding the room.

"Alpha, you have to get a Mate as soon as possible. It's been years since you have acquired the title and you are growing weak," one of the old men sitting in the council said.

This time, Cyra couldn't hold herself back anymore as she let out a huff and rolled her eyes. "Graham, I can assure you, I'm getting anything but weak."

"Cyra, this pack needs an Alpha male. For your sake as well," Alicia said.

"What's that supposed to mean?" She snapped at her mother's outrageous choice of words. This Pack had her as an Alpha and she might have done her share of mistakes but that doesn't mean she wasn't any good.

"Cyra, what your mother meant was that we are, after all, Wolves. We need Mates even if you think you don't think you don't want one. You will grow emotionally weak even if you are strong physically," Pierre clarified.

"I just said no to Liam. I never said I was against having Mates!"

"Alpha Liam was one of our strongest ally, Alpha. By doing this you have weakened our ties with him. You should've consulted with the council before you came to any conclusions," Desmond, another member of the council interjected.

His condescending tone was he undoing as she finally snapped. "Miller, you should know by now that my bloodline requires that I wait for my actual Mate. I'm not an ordinary Wolf like you who can go make any random person my Mate. My true strength will only come from my true Mate. That was how the Moon Goddess destined it to be. By making Alpha Liam my Mate, I would've gone against the wishes of the Goddess. And now, I don't know about you, but to me obeying the wishes of the Luna is more important than maintaining some fragile ally with a Pack that is weaker than ours."

The room got quiet as everybody squirmed under the burning glare of their Alpha. Shame and regret poured through their pores as the apologetically bowed their heads, not having the nerve to look their Alpha in the eye.

It was not often that Cyra got this angry but when she did, she would feel the animalistic beast in her trying to overpower her humane conscious. Her black eyes dilated to a frightening size until it eclipsed her eyes with tints of red specking it. She was shaking with fury—wanting to wreck the room and show her people to treat their Alpha with more respect. Her clenched fists transformed into her claws as they pierced into her skin and ripped her flesh apart but the venom she felt flowing through her body numbed her to the pain.

"Alpha, I'm sorry. I never meant to offend you," Desmond stood up from his chair and shamefully bent his head, his voice shaking more than his body.

"I'm your Alpha. Never forget that." Her voice had dropped a few octaves as it sounded rough and beastly.

Her Wolf was just below the surface and her father recognised it. If she didn't calm down now, she would kill anybody who came across her. Leo, go get Sebastian.

Leo seemed confused as he looked up at his father but nonetheless nodded his head. He nervously looked at his sister and stood up on shaky legs but quickly dashed for the door when he saw that her eyes will still trained at Desmond.

Rushing downstairs, he looked around but couldn't find him anywhere. "Leslie, where is Sebastian?" he asked entering the kitchen.

"Why?" Adam asked nosily.

"Where is Sebastian?" Leonel growled growing worried over the minute. He had seen her angry like this a few times before and either of those times, it had ended with lots of blood.
