Chapter nineteen:
"How have you been, Cyra?"
She could practically picture the Cheshire cat grin on his face right at this moment. "Very well, actually," she curtly said.
"Good. Alpha King, I received message from your side about your victory over Alpha Jason. I would like nothing more than to congratulate you in person," he said.
"That's nice but there's no need-"
Liam cut her off, "Please, Cyra, we're still friends and friends celebrate occasions like this together."
When she remained quiet, quite taken aback by his out of the blue phone call, he continued. "We're also allies, aren't we? I think this would be wise to talk about things in person."
"Fine," she gave in.
"I'll see you in another half hour then," he told her.
Her eyes widened. She needed more time than half hour to mentally prepare herself for what would come alone with Liam. "Of course," she supressed her true emotions and restrained herself letting out an exasperated sigh over the phone.
Leo, can you come in here, please, she said and fell back in her chair. And get the rest of the council with you.
Jared, take half the people in the morning shift with you to the Pack perimeters. Make the other half patrol the rest of the Pack. Leave only four behind at the Packhouse, she instructed the commander of the Wolves.
Is everything alright? Jared worriedly asked.
Alpha Liam is coming over and I am not really sure whether or not I trust him. Just be careful, she replied.
Yes, Alpha.
"The council people are on their way. What's up?" Leo asked, not bothering to knock the door before entering.
"It was Liam who had called earlier. He's on his way."
"Oh," Leo said knowing how the council would overreact about their golden boy coming here, "shit."
"Alpha," they greeted as one by one they all started filling into the room.
"Alpha Liam will be in our Pack in less than half hour. He is coming here to congratulate our victory and wanted to discuss the matter of us being allies," she stoically said.
"Allies as in Mates...?" Liza trailed off, not knowing how she should question what was on all of their minds.
"You know, we have so many more allies. Do you think I'll go fuck all of them as well?" She gritted out.
"I'm sorry, Alpha, I was just... I'm sorry, I don't... I didn't mean to," she became flustered not knowing how to rectify her mistake.
"For the last time, I have a Mate and it is not up for discussion," she said, starting to get annoyed. "If I'll have to explain that one more time, I'll have that person thrown out of the council."
"Sorry, Alpha."
"Now, back to the matter at hand. I don't know what Liam is up to and he basically insisted and invited himself in here. Whatever he says, whatever anyone from his Pack says, I don't want any of you responding to it or making any comments. I'll handle it. I don't want any interruptions," she sternly said looking at the fourteen people in her office.
"Why is Alpha Liam taking all this trouble and coming in person to just congratulate you?" Pierre asked, just as suspicious of the whole scenario as his daughter.
