Chapter thirty-four:

It was after dark and the crescent moon was standing up in the sky behind the clouds. The wind picked up speed, howling and lashing around with the onset of winter. Cyra paced on with the rest of the two Wolves, suppressing down her instincts. The woods and the patrolling was something she did with Sebastian and without him, she felt a sinking feeling inside her. Halfway through, her stomach felt like it was lurching forward when she slowed down to a stop and leaned against the tree, panting heavily.

Alpha, is everything alright? Andrew asked, looking at her Wolf worriedly.

Yes. Her Wolf was feeling incredibly warm and flustered and the whipping cold breeze did nothing to cool her down as her heart felt heavier by the minute. Her legs buckled and gave away as she fell ungracefully on the ground, her snout digging inside the mud, too exhausted to stand up straight. She could feel the bile rising up her throat, her mouth feeling dry. A rancid taste filled up her mouth making her gag.

Alpha?!

She could hear Andrew and Nathan panicking but it slowly started fading into the background. She felt nauseous and her mind started spiralling as her vision blurred. Her body ached as she lay on the floor consumed by raging emotions making her whimper.

"Cyra, shift!"

The commanding voice sounded familiar but it got drowned by all the flooding emotions. Her Wolf curled its large form into a ball, a broken cry softly left her.

"Cyra, you've to shift now." Leo held on to her Wolf and stroked her.

"Cyra, come on, shift," Djo urged, kneeling on the ground in front of her.

She closed her eyes, not wanting to look at anybody. She didn't want to shift. She felt closer to her Mate like this. She realised the ache she was feeling was his. He was devastated and she felt despondent that she couldn't comfort him. She tried hard trying to reach out to him even though she knew it was futile. She needed him. She just wished he realised how much she needed him.

Her Wolf's chest rose up and down rapidly as she sniffled.

"Cyra, please!" Djo desperately pleaded.

"Move," Ceilani said to Leo as she squatted down beside her. She pulled out a crude shiv, the blade had a dull shine and the Wolves around growled dangerously at her, sensing the silver weapon near their Alpha.

"What are you doing?!" Leo yelled.

"Let her do it," Djo stood in between them as he stared Leo down. "Cyra needs to shift."

Leo glared at him but finally gave in, ordering the rest of the Wolves to stand down.

Ceilani wasted no more of her time as she put the blade to Cyra's body, piercing and dragged it further down. Djo watched worriedly as the Wolf wasn't even in its proper senses to register the pain. Ceilani quickly undid the cork on the vial and poured the liquid into her body.

The Wolf withered on the ground, resisting the shift but it was exhausted and soon the bones started breaking painfully as it began realigning. Cyra groaned lying naked on the forest floor as she curled in fetal position, breathing rapidly to hold in her weeps.

Leo quickly bent down to pick her up. Ceilani chanted a few words, her fingers rubbing the small gold pentacle in her hand. A gusting wind enveloping them like a tornado as their surroundings heated up and they felt their bodies uncomfortably stretching and then compressing. Within seconds, it all stopped making Leo stumble forward. Balancing himself, he looked around to find themselves in the guest room of the Packhouse.
