Whatever Occurs: Life, Love, and Loss

You and everyone else has the chance to eat lunch after the softball game ends. You celebrate with Louisa and her team after they've won. You also congratulate the other team for working so hard.

Hamburgers are being provided. You grab a roll and the meat, put some cheese on it, mustard on the bun, and top it all off with just a slice of tomato. You then walk over to where Ethon is sitting, with the cooler right beside him. You grab a Sprite from it before you sit next to him.

Your second oldest granddaughter, Jayla, sits next to you after preparing her food. You give her a side hug when she sits. She starts eating her sandwich right away.

Malyssa, Jeremy, and their two daughters come to sit at your table. You tell Jeremy after you finish chewing, "I hope you crush it in this next match! What team are you on?"

"I'm an outfielder for Team Cornerstones!" He exclaims, "Beaudry and Spencer are both on my team."

"That is so awesome!" You reply, "You three better win this for Keith."

"We will."

Ethon offers you a bag of chips from the cooler. You tell him, "thank you but no thank you."

Braylee taps on Malyssa's shoulder while she talks to Ethon about Tessa's progress in potty training.

"She only drops ones and twos though," Jeremy jokes.

Everyone chuckles.

After Malyssa finishes talking, she says, "yes Braylee? Is there something you want with your hamburger?"

"Yeah," Braylee replies.

"What is it?"

Braylee points to the ketchup and mustard.

"Oh, you want ketchup and mustard? I'll help you with that," Malyssa says.

"Thank you."

"You're welcome, honey."

It is three thirty. Everyone is finished with lunch, returns to their seats in the stands, and the baseball players are introduced. You cheer as Beaudry, Spencer, and Jeremy speed across the field.

Keith Jordanson is up to pitch the ball, though he is not in the game. He is only there to do the honors. Kyle Williamson hits the ball after it is thrown, and makes a run for third base.

You get overwhelmed by all of the excitement. Then, the two teams switch sides when Tony Markston strikes out, leading to Team Cornerstones' third "out."

Spencer grabs the bat. Tony Markston is the pitcher. He throws a curve ball, then it becomes Ball One. Then there's a Ball Two, Three, and Four. Spencer takes his base, and Kyle reaches home plate.

Several injuries occur in the ninth inning. Beaudry is out with a groin pull. It looked like he even twisted his ankle.

Jeremy is on home plate. His move either wins or loses the game for his team. Tony makes the pitch, Jeremy swings, and the ball is out of the park. He runs from base to base without stopping until reaching home plate.

"Safe!" The umpire screams out.

Jeremy and his team cheer and hug each other after they hear they won. Beaudry grabs a large container of Gatorade, and he and Spencer dump it on their brother-in-law.

Jeremy screams out, "Keith, this was all for you, buddy!"

Keith gets up and hugs Jeremy.

You go up to meet Keith and his family. You sense their godly energy. You all tell each other a little bit about yourselves before you tag along with Ethon again. After the game is over, you and Ethon head home. You arrive at eleven o'clock at night, and immediately crash.

Before you go to sleep, you suddenly start to cry uncontrollably for no reason at all. You wonder if something bad is about to happen or has already happened. You end up having a million scenarios forming inside your head.
