In the Fight of His Life

You get a phone call from your oldest grandson, Bryan Venston. You pick up.

"Hi Bryan. What's going on?" You ask.

His voice cracks when he opens his mouth. "My dad is in the hospital."

He didn't have injuries from the baseball match. It was Beaudry who had a groin pull after he lost his footing when he slid onto third base. Then it all comes together. You remember crying uncontrollably last night and realize that this was exactly why you cried for no reason before you fell asleep.

"What happened?!"

"He got in a car accident last night."

"Weren't you heading home with him?"

"No. He was cleaning up after the game, so I rode home with Nolan and my mom."

"Do you know what happened in that accident?"

"He was just turning off the exit when a drunk driver T-boned him directly on the side. He was airlifted to Grays Harbor Community Hospital last night, and arrived at Harborview Medical Center this morning."

The word "airlifted" already makes you feel really sick inside. You knew he was in Harborview after you heard that word.

"When did you find this out?" You ask.

"Around thirty minutes after. Nolan, my mom, and I wanted to see him, so we got on the helicopter with him."

You shake your head in disbelief. You close your eyes, fold your hands, and mouth a long prayer for Spencer. You check your phone to see if there is anything on social media for updates. You see a post from his wife Nika. She has a GoFundMe page set up to help him.

"My wonderful husband Spencer was driving home from a baseball game last night when he turned onto the highway towards Aberdeen. He was directly hit on the drivers side by a drunk driver at ninety miles an hour and flipped over seven times. His airbag didn't deploy and his seatbelt didn't restrain him. He was airlifted to Grays Harbor Community Hospital that night and just arrived at Harborview Medical Center. He is on full life support, has severe whiplash, broke nine ribs, fractured his spine, and his blood pressure and brain pressure are super high. Spencer is in the fight of his life right now. Please donate to help him with his medical bills and say a prayer for our family!"

"His airbag didn't deploy and his seatbelt didn't restrain him." You already have a very bad feeling he's going to die. You believe that the high possibility of Spencer's death as a result of this accident is what led you to tears. Out of all of the possible scenarios you formed in your head, this wasn't one of them.

The page now has over a dozen shares. You donate one hundred dollars to the GoFundMe page Nika made. You can't stop thinking about and praying for him. With all that he has on his plate, you fear that he won't survive. You try to prepare for the day that shit starts to hit the fan.

"You look like you've been crying," Ethon notices when he comes downstairs after waking up.

You tell him everything that has happened thus far. He tears up right away, and prays with you. You hold each other tight, and try to stay positive that he will live. You and Ethon rush to get ready to head to Harborview. You're back on the road in less than thirty minutes.

You call Malyssa to tell her the news when she has a breakdown herself.

"Holy buckets! Braylee had a dream about this exact same thing last night!"

"What?!"

"She told me she saw a man in a silver four door car hit Spencer, he rolled over multiple times, and was airlifted to the hospital! This doesn't seem real at all!"

"Lyssa, I think she might me a medium."

"Are you being serious?"

"I shit you not!"

"The LAST time she freaked me out like this was when she had that dream about my ectopic pregnancy! I told her, 'I can't even look at you right now. Not because I'm mad, but because your dream freaked me out so badly!'"

Just six months ago, Braylee had a vision of a non-binary child. This baby's genital organs weren't developed yet. Braylee dreamt she got to meet the baby after the pregnancy wasn't viable for them. She told Malyssa about the dream and asked about the sibling she never got to meet, after she explained the dream so vividly. Malyssa and Jeremy started to cry.

You and Malyssa continue to talk about Braylee's visions and newly developed psychic abilities, Spencer's life-or-death situation, and arranging to have Nick and Carrie Cox babysit the girls until this family emergency gets taken care of.
