When I was a kid who didn't know anything about pain,

my mother once told me that fire could burn me,

that the cold rain would give me a cold,

that running on a wet, marble floor would make me slip and fall

But mother, please be honest and tell me:

Why didn't it hurt when I loved someone

Who you thought would hurt me?
