The moment she said the words back,
He held on to them,
Her words became the roots in his soul,
He swallowed them even when it scratched his throat

But her smiles doesn't quite reach her eyes,
She doesn't wrap her arms around him that tight,
And their dull kisses doesn't last for long,
For her lips lacked the urge to carry on

He admired her to the fullest,
Yet longed for warmth he never knew he deserved
He questioned why he felt so alone,
Yet he continued to love her in the dark

He asked her once more,
'Do you love me?'
He found his answer
In the long pause

In the end, it was him who lost,
For she was a misleading light,
A light that was too far for him to grasp
But he somehow knew that if he does reach that glow,
He would burn to ashes

Despite all,

He continued to hope that the night sky is still beautiful wherever she is
