What Are We: The Last Goodbye
Jiyong can hear faint voices. He wasn’t able to sort out who owns the voices at first until it became clear to him. He wanted to open his eyes but he can’t. He can’t feel anything, his whole body’s numb.
“Ano ba talagang nangyari?” it was his best friend’s voice, Youngbae.
“Hindi ko din alam, Hyung,” then there’s Daesung. “Basta nakatanggap na lang ako ng tawag na sinugod si Jiyong hyung sa ospital.” his voice even trembled.
“What I heard was he’s dead…” TOP’s deep voice made it even chilling and frightening for anyone who can hear.
“’Yan din ang natanggap ko,” the mere memory of that phone call made Daesung shiver in fear.
“And that’s what also Dami Noona heard,” napatakip si Youngbae sa mukha at tila naalala din ang tawag na s’yang nagpatigil ng mundo n’ya. “Jiyong’s mom even passed out.” They all fell silent.
“It’s all over the news… they’re spreading false rumors about hyung’s condition,” umiling si Daesung at natulala.
“Bakit hindi pa maglabas ng statement si YG? Is he out of his mind?” Young bae’s voice raised out of frustration. It’s been a day since Jiyong was released on the ER. He’s already having his own room but he still haven’t wake up. Ngayon lang nila nabisita ang kaibigan at halos mamatay-matay sila sa pag-aantay ng surgery nito. The media even made it worse for spreading false rumors that the mighty dragon’s dead.
No one’s able to see Jiyong for a day besides his family. And now that they’re seeing their leader slash brother safe and looking at peace, they were able to breathe in relief. A day of waiting killed them. Especially because they didn’t know what’s happening to him. It was a torture.
“Hindi ba’t pinuntahan mo sila ni Nana sa bahay?” TOP turned to Youngbae. “You’re the one who’s supposed to know what happened.”
Bae shook his head, recalling if there’s something off that happened that night for Jiyong to drive crassly and even hurt himself. But there was none. All he can remember was how happy and contended Jiyong was that night.
He was bugged all day why his best friend would do such careless thing. Anong rason para lumabas s’ya ng bahay ng madaling araw?
“Jiyong’s fine…” he trailed. “And even Nana… doesn’t know anything. She said she stirred up and found that Jiyong’s gone. She tried calling him but he’s rejecting it.”
The three once again fell silent. Until Youngbae felt a sudden absence of someone.
“Where’s Seungri, anyway? He should be here when Jiyong wakes up,” puna nito.
“I tried calling him,” Daesung said while looking at his own phone. “But he’s not answering it.”
“Kahapon pa?” Youngbae asked and Daesung nodded. “That little shit! Lasing pa siguro.”
“Let’s just see how he’ll react if he sees the articles about Jiyong,” napailing si TOP.
The door suddenly creaked and the three turned to the door. Nana walked in and they can’t do anything but sympathize for the woman’s state. She’s been blaming herself for what happened. Ilang beses s’yang kinumbinsi ng lahat na hindi n’ya ‘to kasalanan ngunit halos mawalan din ‘to ng malay sa pag-iyak noong makatanggap ng tawag na sinugod ang kanyang fiancé sa ospital at naghihingalo.
If Youngbae and the others had it worse… what more was she? S’ya ang huling kasama nito bago mangyari ang aksidente. She knew it was her fault.
