After three days in the company of Pepper, it was time for the rest of the time to move in to the towers. When I told Pepper, I was quite worried that she was going to start shouting but, actually, she took it really well. She didn't have a problem with them moving in, she did however, get angry that I even considered that she would be angry. So contrary. It was well past lunch time and I was still in bed, my bed sheets twisted around my body in an impossible labyrinth of cloth and my face pressed into the pillows. Pepper had been up and dressed for hours leaving me to sleep and sleep I had been until my fucking phone started ringing. Groaning, I rolled over to reach for my phone on my dresser and miscalculating the distance, I rolled out of bed and hit the floor with dull thud, still knotted in sheets. I patted the top of my dresser blindly and pulled my phone to my face once my hand fell upon it.

“What is it?” I snapped in a groggy voice.

“Ah, Stark, you're awake.” Fury's voice pierced through the speaker of my phone, making me cringe.

“I'm going to block your number Fury. It's the middle of the bloody night!” I cried.

“Stark, it's almost four o'clock. Get over yourself. The team are just preparing to leave so I suggest you drag your sorry ass out of bed and be ready to meet them. Oh and Stark don't forget to put clothes on this time.” Fury added, clearly amused. Then came a satisfying beep as the line cut dead. I dropped my phone with a groan and drifted in and out of consciousness, still on the floor. I didn't care; the floor was surprisingly comfortable.

“JARVIS, tell Pepper the team will be heading over soon, and I'm not moving.”

“As you wish, Sir.

It was well into the evening by the time I came around. I prized my eyes open but it was if I was fighting a losing battle as the sleepy goo the glued them shut. Eventually, with the aid of my bed sheets scrubbing my eye lids free, I opened my eyes slowly to allow my eyes to adjust. The room was rather bright, filled with a soft orange light that was spilling in from the window, the setting of the evening sun illuminating the room. I stretched out, clicking my aching back bones and that is when I realised that I was still on the floor in impossible maze of bed sheets. I laughed aloud to myself, thinking of how amusing it would be for someone to walk in here and find me sprawled out on the floor in a tangle of sheets. Wouldn't that look ridiculous?

As if right on queue, Pepper wandered into my room wearing a tight fit grey pencil skirt that made her hips stand out and a nicely fitting blazer to match. She looked were sophisticated. Her eyes scanned the room as a confused expression crossed her face. It took her a few moments to realise where I was, and once she realised she looked most displeased. She narrowed her eyes as she took in the scene in front of her.

“Tony, what the hell are you doing? The avengers are here! Do you have any idea what time it is? You have to pull yourself together.” She gushed before ranting on. “You've missed dinner, oh course you've missed dinner. They've been here for almost five hours and their host wasn't even conscious to greet them. The team have been shown to their rooms. Tony-”

“Calm down, Pepps. They team know what I'm like. It's not as if they are perfect strangers and don't know all about my ridiculous sleeping patterns. I'll see them all around the towers at some point or another, I mean it isn't as if they have anywhere else to be. Anyway, I'm getting up now, that's a good start, right?” I tried to defend myself with a smirk plastered across my face, but Pepper just sighed and rolled her eyes. She started to walk over to me to gather up the mass of blankets but as soon as she was in arms distance from me I pulled her down onto the floor. She let out a squeal in surprise and I laughed lightly.

“Tony!” She cried out and I knew I had to act quickly before she started to rant on at me again. So I kissed her passionately, catching her off guard. I herd the soft hitch of her breath in the back of her throat and it took her just a split second to realise what was happening but once she did, she leant into the kiss, moving her lips against mine in a rhythmic motion. I caressed the side of her face gently with my finger tips, tucking some loose velvety strands of her fiery hair behind her ear. She was lying over my body partially but with a quick adjustment, I had Pepper on her back and I had my legs straddled across her, still kissing her. She laughed softly into our kiss at the readjustments of your positions but she didn't complain. I had never felt more at peace in my life than I did when I was Pepper. I mean, of course we drove each other crazy and I hated when she scolded me for doing something (or in most cases, not doing something) and she hated it when I never listened to her, but I loved her and I was going to spend the rest of my life with her. And that is what mattered, right? I grinned triumphantly to myself, knowing that her appearance wasn't going to look as immaculate as it was when she entered my room, once I was finished with her.

“Tony,” Pepper whispered to me as she broke free of our kiss.

“Yeah, Pepps?”

“What are we doing on the floor, when there is a perfectly satisfactory bed right next to us?” She queried.

“We're living in the moment. Something you told me I should do more often-”

“Shut up and kiss me you babbling idiot. I didn't want your life story behind it.” We both laughed and I obeyed her request and pulled her in close for another passionate and heated kiss.
