Ashton: He was lying wide awake while you were sound asleep with your head on his shoulder, the pain medication you had taken earlier had finally worked and you were pretty much passed out and he wasn’t surprised that you didn’t wake to the sound of Jessica’s cries. He slowly moved you so he could slip out of bed, pushing some hair off his forehead as he made his way down the hall to her nursery. He shushed her as he picked her up, cradling her to his chest as he made his way downstairs to the kitchen. Jessie’s little lips were smacking together and he took that as a hint that she was hungry. Thankfully you had made up some bottles earlier in the evening so he didn’t have to wake you up. He yawned as he leant up against the counter, keeping the small baby close to him so she wouldn’t get cold as he waited for the bottle to heat up and when it was done, he checked the temperature on his wrist like you had shown him earlier. He moved through to the living room, taking a seat in the large armchair. Smiling, he held the bottle up to her tiny mouth and she eagerly started drinking. “There we go,” he whispered, rubbing her back lightly, “You were just hungry, weren’t you?” He then rest his head back on the back of the chair, making sure to keep a tight grip on Jessica as she continued to drink. When she was done, he quickly burped her and returned upstairs, pressing a kiss to her forehead before placing her back down in her crib, “Goodnight baby.”
Calum: You winced as an ear piercing cry came from down the hall and you quietly prayed that your other baby wouldn’t wake up too. Of course, that didn’t happen and maybe a minute later, you heard another cry join in. You glanced at your husband sleeping soundly beside you, seemingly unaware of the noises coming from the nursery. “Cal?” you whispered, giving his shoulder a small shake, “Calum, please wake up.” His eyes fluttered open and he frowned when he heard the cries of the twins, “What’s going on?” You bit your lip, “They’re both crying and I don’t think I can take care of them on my own.” He gave your hand a quick squeeze before getting out of bed, holding out his hand for yours, “Let’s go see what’s wrong with our babies.” You smiled slightly, letting him lead you next door into the nursery. “What’s all the noise for?” he asked himself, leaning down over Andrew’s crib, “Hmm? You can’t be hungry. Mummy fed you half an hour ago. Do you both need changed?” You picked up Noah, carrying him over to the changing table to check his diaper, seeing that it was clean. Calum done the same with Andrew, coming to the same conclusion as you. “What on earth could they want?” you whispered, looking up at Calum as tears welled up in your eyes, “Why can’t we figure it out?” Calum managed to wrap one of his arms around you while still holding Andrew, pressing a kiss to your forehead, “It’ll get easier. But babe, it’s like two in the morning. Can we just take them through to our bed? Just for tonight?” You nodded, and followed him back through to your room, laying down on your bed with Noah on your chest and Andrew on Calum’s. When they finally dozed off, you carefully lay them both in between the two of you and reached over to kiss Calum. “I love you.” you whispered. Smiling, he lay down on his pillow, eyes almost slipping shut, “I love you too.”
Luke: He was only supposed to be going to the bathroom but he couldn’t resist peeking into Darren’s nursery before returning to bed. As he looked around the door, he could hear his son’s quiet breathing and he silently made his way over to the crib, seeing that Darren was wide awake and he had managed to wriggle his way out of his blankets. Luke tutted to himself quietly and picked the baby up along with the blanket before he began wrapping them around Darren again. You had told him that babies like to be warm and cozy because it reminded them of being in the womb. As he was about to place Darren back in his crib, he felt your hand on his arm and looked down at you confused. “It’s been a few hours since his last feed,” you informed him quietly, “I think I’m going to feed him just now and then maybe that’ll help get him into a rhythm.” He nodded and handed him to you and instead of going back to bed like you thought he would, he sat down on the floor in front of the rocking chair you were sat on, watching as you fed his son with an adoring look on his face.
Michael: It was the third time that you both had been woken by your newborn. The first time it was because she needed fed and the second…well you didn’t really know why she was crying but she went back to sleep when Michael sang to her for a few minutes. This time however, you had to get up again since it was your turn and you had to change her diaper. Now you were bouncing her gently while humming softly to her as she continued to cry in your ear. You had moved from your bedroom into Amy’s nursery so her cries didn’t wake Michael and you could feel tears welling up in your eyes as she continued to cry. When the tears finally came, you felt a warm hand on your back, turning around and you turned, seeing Michael watching you with tired eyes. “She won’t go back to sleep,” you whimpered, “What do I do?” He wordlessly took Amy from you, “You go back to bed. You’ve been up twice tonight. I’ll get her the next couple of nights okay? Let you catch up on you sleep.” You wiped away your tears and rest your head on his shoulder, “Why can’t I work out what she wants?” He frowned, not being sure if he could cope with both of his girls crying at the same time before he pressed a kiss to your forehead. “You heard what the nurses said. It could take us both a while to understand her cries. But listen, you go back to bed and I’ll get her back to sleep and then I’ll bring her through.” You gave his hand a squeeze, “Thank you.”
