Astrid
Astrid's thoughts swelled with concern for Hiccup as he was locked up in one of the mortifying cells in Berk, which was meant for those who had committed treason, and she knew- Hiccup was no traitor. Determined to prove his innocence, Astrid began to formulate a plan.First, she had to approach this accuser, a muttonheaded viking, who dared put her beloved behind the bars of his own land.
"Who are you?" Astrid muttered, slipping into the temporary hut he had set up across the Plaza.
The man turned, "Ah, you really don't recognize me, do you Astrid? Look into my eyes, woman. Did you not see the same look in another man?".
Astrid gasped. His large body, hair in dread locks, covered in a cloak perhaps made of dragon skin. "Drago-".
The man interrupted. "His son, actually. Named after my grandfather, Drogo II. After your chief so mercilessly sent my father plummeting into the sea towards his own death, I was alone in the world. My father had no people, it was just him and I. The massacre I said your husband had done, it was all me. Hiccup, trying to be the hero, indeed tried to stop it, but it was too late".
The terror and disbelief swarmed over Astrid. She wanted to slap this man right here, Drogo, or whatever his name was, it didn't matter. What mattered was that he had taken something Astrid held dear to her, the best part of her.
Of course, Astrid had to prove that Hiccup did not leave Inferno at the place of the massacre, it would be enough evidence for Drogo to take Hiccup's head. If somehow she could prove that Hiccup had taken Inferno home with him with Toothless.
But first, all Astrid longed for now was to talk to her Hiccup.
Hiccup
Hiccup felt battled and defenseless, left to rot in Berk's eerie cell, where the water creaked from the ceiling above and the algae grew on almost every wall. He thought he was dreaming when he heard Astrid's melodic voice echo through the prison's endless hall."Hiccup!" She exclaimed.
The blonde warrior attempted to grasp her husband's hand through the bars of the cell. He did too, as it was all he longed for, the sweet touch of his wife. Even at times like this, the mere feeling of her soft pale skin was enough to send Hiccup relief and comfort.
"Astrid! What are you doing here? If they catch you here, they'll call you a traitor too. Leave now, you'll make it in time. Please-".
She silenced him.
"I don't care, Hiccup. You're innocent, I know it. Just let me help you, please. I know your sword was there the night before. I saw you adjusting its mechanics at night. The man who accused you, he's Drago's son, Drogo. Confusing names, I know,".
He scoffed. "Confusing names? I bet I'd know a thing or two about that, I was named Hiccup for Odin's sake!"
Astrid could only chuckle at her husband's attempted humor. She missed this, all his stupid jokes in order to make her laugh, or at least, he tried.
Hiccup could sense the bit of concern and doubt plastered on Astrid's face. It wasn't obvious, a skill only Hiccup learned to master through his many years with her. He tried to lean in and reached his hand out to touch her.
"Hey, it'll be fine. There'll always be a Hiccup and Astrid". He muttered softly.
Though married, their battle dynamic never changed. When it came to discussing strategy, the two could deviate plan to outsmart any man, enemy, and even army, and it was what they were going to do now.
Astrid
Astrid marched up to the Plaza carrying Hiccup's sword, inferno, in the clutch of her hand."This man, Drogo, is a fraud! He claims that Hiccup, your chief, might I add, led a massacre killing thousands of his people. He is the son of Drago Bludvist, a man of no people! A slave owner of the dragons! Inferno has been with Hiccup the entire time, Drogo only stole it at the night. Here is a blacksmith document proving Hiccup's possession of the sword!" She yelled as she held up the document.
Drogo, looking around at all the livid eyes began to ran. He ran into the forest, some say he even fell off the horrid cliffs of the island, disappearing into the abyss of the marine sea, just as his father, Drogo did. Instead this time, he was defeated by Hiccup and Astrid.
Astrid could recall the warm feeling of being in Hiccup's arms as he was released from Berk's cell. The happiness she felt radiated throughout her entire body as Hiccup himself had once said,
"There will always be a Hiccup and Astrid".
