Hiccup's crossed over Astrid's secret mission with Heather

Hiccup
Hiccup's chest felt heavy. He felt as if the betrayal he was feeling started to weigh down his entire body. For almost his entire life, he had believed that he and Astrid were a team. After all, they had fought numerous battles side by side, been through every war, every struggle, together. With that time together, they had also developed feelings. Feelings so strong that it made Hiccup's mind centered towards Astrid, and he was almost certain that the feeling was reciprocated.

However, their mutual understanding broke once Hiccup found out about Heather and Astrid's confidential mission to Outcast island. Alone. The two left at the brink of dawn, flying off into the horizon before Hiccup could've woken up. The sound of Stormfly flapping her wings wasn't even enough to alarm Toothless.

The confusion Hiccup felt when Astrid and Heather had vanished was enough to spark concern in both him and Fishlegs, considering that Heather, too, was gone. Left puzzled and dazed, Hiccup could only hope that the two were okay.

Astrid
Astrid and Heather could only return in the later day. Though their mission had been a success in launching secret attacks on the outcasts, they were both left tired, scarred, and slightly injured. The flight back to the edge felt like an eternity, but she knew it would have been better than facing Hiccup's rage towards her sudden disappearance.

Astrid could already see the flames in Hiccup's green eyes the second she landed on the Edge. He stomped towards her, eyebrows scrunched and arms folded, his face mixed with concern, anger, and relief?

"Where in Thor's name, were you, Astrid?" He stammered. "Wherever the hell you were, it doesn't look good considering both you and Heather are covered in scars and bruises".

Astrid sighed. "It's only fun if you get a scar out of it. We were at Outcast Island, but wait, Hiccup, please, let me explain-"

"Outcast island? Outcast island?!" The rage in his voice was clearly detectable. "I don't' wanna hear it, Astrid. Gods, did you ever consider you and Heather getting hurt out there? Imagine if anything happened to you, what do you think I would've done, huh? You need to stop being so reckless! You said it yourself, I am your leader, which means I sho-".

It was a constant battle of Hiccup and Astrid interrupting one another. "Yes, you are our leader! But if you were in this plan you would've ruined it, Hiccup! You would've never approved of the mission in the first place" She exclaimed.

"Of course, because I'm not that much of a mutton head to approve such a dangerous mission! What if you guys had gotten struck down, we had no idea of your whereabouts, you think anyone would've been able to come save you?".

Astrid scoffed. "Save us? You need to stop thinking of us so, so poorly. As far as my knowledge goes, we're vikings. It's an occupational hazard. I can't have this ridiculous argument with you, Hiccup. Not if all we do is yell". She felt her blood beginning to boil. Was Hiccup accusing her of being weak?

Hiccup returned her a bitter smile as she scoffed and mounted on Stormfly. He managed to give her one last scowl before she took off into the air.

Hiccup
Hiccup felt immense guilt after what he had said to Astrid. In no ways did he ever intend to degrade women. Gods, that would've been the last thing he wanted to do. It was just that his enormous concern for Astrid rooted into his chest far too deeply. Hiccup would always worry about her, worry if he'd be there to protect her, even if he knew that she was far too good in defending herself. Truth was, Hiccup understood that Astrid would have been far more than capable in managing herself if her secret mission were to go wrong, it was just his paranoia that tugged at him annoyingly.

The one-legged viking had waited for four hours before going after Astrid. Hiccup understood that she needed time, and so did he. With the sun beginning to sink below the horizon, he knew it would be perfect to find her, as Astrid always loved sunsets.

Finding Astrid wasn't too difficult. Itchy Armpit, where she always was. She had her legs dangling across the cliff as Hiccup saw her inhaling the air that brushed towards her face. She looked so alive. She's so beautiful, He thought. How could I ever have been mad to such a viking like her?

"M'lady" He muttered softly.

Her blue eyes met his and it was a perfect lock. There was a slight shock of tension between the two. All Hiccup wanted to do was bring her into his arms, but he knew that he needed to make things right first.

He was about to start, but Astrid beat him to it.

"Look, Hiccup, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have gone out on that mission without you knowing. It's just that I know that you care about me, and sometimes that gets in the way of our dynamic, you should know that we're both perfectly capable of handling ourselves. But I get where you're coming from. Yes, what me and Heather did was reckless, and we're sorry. Genuinely".

Hiccup exchanged a small toothy grin. "Our dynamic? Astrid, I'm always gonna worry about you, I'll never stop worrying, but I should know that you know how to keep yourself safe, even if I'm not around. Our fight was stupid, I shouldn't have yelled. Just promise me, no more lies, yeah?".

Their pinkies curled onto one another. "I promise" She muttered, before Hiccup pulled her into a tight embrace. Astrid nuzzled her face into his chest.

"Gods, I almost lost you today" Hiccup muttered under his breath shakily.

Astrid looked up towards him. "But you didn't. You never will, Hiccup".

He grinned. "What's say you and I stay here together for the night? We can send a Terror Mail informing the others not to worry. Been a while since we spent the night together, I think this is well deserved".

"Not a problem to me".
