A poltergeist is defined as, "a ghost or other supernatural being supposedly responsible for physical disturbances such as loud noises and objects thrown around," (source: google). The word poltergeist stems from the German word poltern which means "to knock" and geist which means "spirit". Some believe poltergeists are manifestations of energy which most often is negative energy. Poltergeist hauntings happen more frequently in homes of teenagers or people with a lot of negative or unsolved energy around them.
The first time anything noticeable moved was the flying glass fish, but since then many other things have moved on their own.
On April 26th, 2015, I was in my bedroom when I heard a crash come from the kitchen. When I went to investigate, I found my parents in the kitchen, my mom looking slightly dumbfounded. Somehow, the glass light fixture above our kitchen island had fallen down and crashed, shattering into a million glass pieces. When I say somehow, I mean we had no idea how the two screws holding it to the ceiling suddenly failed to do so.
On multiple occasions as I believe I said in a previous chapter, my grandparents which are in a small urn, were tipped over.
Also stated in a previous chapter, my parents' bedroom light turned on by itself while we were watching home videos.
In the forest near my house, stones were thrown at my brother once while he was riding the trail on the four wheeler.
On May 15, 2015, my bedroom fan cord was lifted up and then dropped as soon as I looked directly at it.
On October 16, 2016, my bedroom TV turned on by itself at 10:50pm. It has done it many times since then to the point where I can no longer have the TV plugged in unless I am watching it.
On September 22, 2017 at 1:45pm, my parents' bedroom door closed by itself while she was in it. She was so startled by this, she called me from my bedroom to tell me. This shocked me because she is very skeptical about the paranormal and it is unlike her to react that way.
In March of 2017, one morning around 6:30am, my mother and I were waiting for my younger cousin to be dropped off at our house so she could catch the bus with me. As we were waiting, we heard the front door open and close and my dog began to react as though something was there. Upon inspection, nobody had opened or closed the door and my cousin hadn't arrived yet. When she did arrive, we asked her if she had forgotten something and came in but turned back around and left. To this she told us she had just gotten there and there was nobody at our house until she had arrived right then.
In July of 2018, one of my best friends was doing her basic training for the National Guard and all we could do was write letters back and forth. I wrote so many letters, and at one point I had a stack of them piled up on my desk waiting to be put in envelopes and sent. Strangely enough, one day they all went missing. I believe the number was three or four letters, but all of them were neatly clamped to my clip board for when I was ready to send them. For a good month I was unable to find them until one day I was making my bed and found them tucked into a corner by the end of my bed.
On July 15 of 2018, my mother noticed the kitchen table was a bit crooked one night and fixed it, thinking it had been the dog who ran into it during his play time. She went about her night, doing laundry and taking trips outside. Upon coming inside from one of her trips to the porch, she realized the table was once again crooked. Like I stated before, she is very skeptical but this surprised her so much she told me as soon as I woke up the next day.
And most recently, on May 9th of 2019, I had woken up and my fan began to flicker on and off. I was a bit stunned by this as it wasn't storming out and there was no reason for this to be happening. I then noticed my TV was turning on and off which I had accidentally left it plugged in. I turned on my desk light which is next to my bed and then even that began to flicker. It was something like out of a movie where everything was flickering. Startled, I turned everything off, unplugged the TV and hurried out of my room. I then asked if she had noticed any weird light flickering anywhere else in the house as I had seen the surge like flickering before when there was a major snow storm. Unfortunately she told me she didn't have anything else on in the house but nothing flickered that she knew of.
And a strange little side note... almost every time I walk into our small bathroom the lights flicker, but I am the only one it does it to. If I am with my fiance or anyone else, the lights are solid and don't flicker.
Needless to say, things turn on and off and move around to a normal frequency and honestly if something moves or makes a noise, we joke about it being the ghosts. I've never felt uncomfortable when something has moved, but it is definitely creepy and startling when it happens.
Whether it is a poltergeist in my house I am not sure, but as I was a teenage girl through most of the occurrences it is most definitely a possibility. It could also be simple family spirits trying to communicate as best they can, which is what I would like to believe. Alas, I can never know for sure what is causing the strange physical disturbances in my home.
