During my early teenage years around twelve to fourteen, I went through a rebellious phase.
I would only wear black, I listened to dark music and I always refused to leave the house on shopping trips with my parents.
This was one of those days.
My parents had left for the evening to go shopping while I stayed home alone listening to my music and playing on my Dell laptop.
Deciding I was in need of something to eat, I made my way into our kitchen.
As I was preparing myself a sandwich, a feeling of fear and being watched crept over me.
For a few minutes I shook it off.
After I finished my sandwich, I put all the fixings away and as I turned to walk back to my bedroom something made me freeze.
In the family room, a misty smoke like apparition turned and rolled in the middle of the room.
That feeling of being watched and fear increased and my heart nearly jumped out of me as I saw this thing in my living room.
It didn't feel good at all, nor was it just there as some things have been.
It felt creepy and bad.
I stood frozen for at least five seconds watching this foggy apparition swirl about.
After seconds had passed, the fog had swirled into the floor and disappeared.
I broke out of my shock and ran to my bedroom, slamming the door shut behind me and placing a chair in front of it as if that would keep a spirit out.
When my parents arrived home, I was still quite shaken up by the events that had occurred, but I don't think anyone believed me.
Maybe they still don't as they so often do not believe what I have seen or experienced.
But that was the first time I felt any sort of fear in my own home, but it was certainly not the last time.
