Dong-Min

My pencil traced pass the scratches on the desk. My teacher was going about another one of her 'failed' tinder dates, another typical morning.

As soon as I was about to fall asleep, I felt something light hit my face. I opened my eyes looking at my desk to see a piece of paper crumpled into a ball.

I unraveled the paper ball seeing Jeong-Hui's handwriting:

Are you free after school? I have coupons for chicken and ice cream :)

I looked up seeing Jeong-Hui smiling, I scoffed smiling back. I picked up my pencil writing down my response. I looked up to the teacher waiting for the right time to pass her the note.

I quickly shoved the letter into her hand smirking motioning her to turn around. "Yi Jeong-Hui turn around!" the teacher yelled not seeing the note but seeing Jeong-Hui turned around.

"Sorry," she said bowing.

"Go outside,"  the teacher said pointing towards the door. I looked at Jeong-Hui when the teacher wasn't looking she waved goodbye and smiled.

She just got in trouble because of me and she's waving and smiling like nothing happened. That girl is something...

"Dong-Min I got the coupons!" I heard Jeong-Hui yelled as I walked towards the front gate of our school. I turned around, seeing Jeong-Hui holding coupons as if it was a fan.

She skipped up to me happily, it felt like everyone stopped walking just to watch how her mouth spread wide, her eyes squinting because of her smile, and her cheeks visible. Just as she skipped, my heart skipped a beat. Skipped a beat? More like beat rapidly, it felt like I ran a full mile as my heart just speed up.

"Come on what are you waiting for?" Jeong-Hui said snapping me out of my thoughts. What am I thinking about? Jeong-Hui is my best friend she doesn't like me like that. Also, why was I thinking like a person in love, I don't love her in that way.

"Yeah, let's go!" I said. She grabbed my arm pulling me towards the restaurant where the chicken was being sold.

As we were walking towards the store, I saw a dog. "Look Jeong-Hui it's a dog!" I yelled. I knew she would be excited so I purposely told her about the white fluffy dog.

"Oh my- it's a dog!" she gasped, "it's so cute!" She ran towards the white dog, but walked past them and didn't look so excitingly.

I followed her confused, "Where are you going...?" I saw Jeong-Hui holding grocery bags and walking beside an old lady.

I bowed at the old lady and looked at Jeong-Hui confused. "She seemed like she needed help... sorry," Jeong-Hui confessed apologizing. I was impressed, she took up petting the fluffiest and cutest dog for helping an old lady out.

"It's okay, I'll help too," I said grabbing the other grocery bags that the old lady was holding. We walked to the women's house helping to bring the groceries. By the time we walked back to the restaurant, it was closed.

"Ah! I'm so sorry," she whined looking sad, she looked at the coupons. "It expires today..." she looked down disappointed.

"It's okay, let's just get Patbingsu. I'll pay," I said trying to cheer her up.

"I want to get Patbingsu, but I want to pay," she said smiling, she was now happy.

"No, I'll pay," I said laughing.
