They arrived at Landfall. The city was surrounded by a stone wall, rumoured to have stood for thousands of years, the city had never fallen to an invasion.
"Traveler." The guard greeted, standing guard next to the main gate, which wasn't an actual wooden draw bridge or door, it was just a massive green stone indented into the wall. He was dressed in plate armour, a cream tabard with a image of a green mountain.
Chiron hopped off his horse. "I hail from the north, I believe you've been expecting me?"
The guts thought for a second. "Ah yes, you seek knowledge from The Great Athenaeum?"
"Correct. I see my message arrived successfully."
"That it did. Snow Ravens are a hell of a bird. You'll find the stables over there." He pointed his halberd to the right, among the rock wall there was a deep abrasion, hay covering the floor.
"Appreciated." He took the reins of his new horse and lead it over. The stable-master poked her head out of a nearby window. She was large lady, muscled and obviously with her build, most likely a blacksmith.
"Ye gods, a whit'en! Ya steal that fro the Ragnar'uns?!"
"Excuse me....?" He struggled to understand her dialect. She climbed outside and stood in front of the silver haired man.
"Te Barbariuns!"
"Oh. Those guys. You could say..." He hesitated, deciding to to reveal his Familiar had killed one of them. "Yes. I stole it."
Winter poked her head out of the bag attached to the saddle. Technically, I stole it then.
Chiron scowled at her "I prefer you when you're asleep."
And I prefer it when you're not talking shit.
"Tren em good, quale' hoss. Shame ur trainehs can't lurn thin' o to from em. Sucks they ban'its." Winter managed to wiggle her way out of the bag, hopped on the floor and padded over to her master. "Oh me! She a cu'ie!" The lady cooed.
"Now if only her personality matched her physical appearance..."
Hey! I'm a nice fox!
Chiron sighed. "Yes yes. Didn't say you weren't." He said sarcastically.
Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit.
"Heng en! You're talkin' to it! You a mage?!"
"Possibly. So could you...look after my horse?"
"Aye aye! It be a pleasure! Wassits nam'?"
"Uhhh." He raised an eyebrow, thinking.
Frost? Winter suggested, looking up at him. Chiron shrugged.
"Frost."
"Aye aight. That be a Tol for shoe un care. Two Sil a day afte'."
Chiron unclipped his bag and handed the not-not-so-ladylike-lady the reins. He dug around for his coin purse and found the smaller one that he took from the Child of the Apocalypse, it still had a few golden coins in it. He handed her a Tol. "Thanken." She lead the horse off into the stables.
Did you understand anything she said?
They walked back to the entrance to the city.
"Nowt." He mocked, making sure they where out of earshot.
