"CHIRON!" Analize shouted.
She was drowned out by a sudden roar.
The air around the was thick with dust. She couldn't see more than two feet in front of her. There was a touch on her leg and Blaze climbed up on her shoulder.
She...is awake.
"WHO? Blaze, what's going on?!"
Ymir.
The dust settled. The ice wall had completely disappeared. She looked around for the silver haired man and fox. She saw him laying on the floor, where the "rock" he was touching was.
Analize ran over, not thinking about the Draconian cult. "Chiron..." He was passed out, he didn't look injured and had a steady pulse and breath.
"LADY YMIR!"
A familiar voice broke through the sound of dust settling. The leader of the cult stood a little distance away, Winter was nowhere to be seen.
WHO DARES SPEAK MY NAME.
A harsh female voice boomed, shaking he ground slightly at every syllable.
"Ymir..." Analize realised what was going on. She looked skywards. Hovering just above the crater was a huge brown rock coloured lizard, wings flapping, keeping itself airborne.
"It is I! Your priest Hyluan!" The cloaked man announced.
I know no such being.
"I have prayed for this day! May I serve you?!"
I do not require servants or prayers.
"But you have the power of a god! The scaper of the realm!"
I AM NO SUCH THING. Mortal, you are boring me. I suggest you take leave.
"But...my lady...."
The ground shook. Analize stood her ground, bracing herself.
BEGONE! ALL OF YOU!
The ground turned strange, it seemed to lose all of its physical form, becoming close to sand. The priest began to sink. Gasps and shouts of confusion filled the dust infused air.
However...the ground beneath Chiron and Analize stood firm.
They mages began to disappear. Sinking into the floor. Screams of panic and dismay reached Analizes ears, she covered them to try and block out any sign of people dying or hurting, also shutting her eyes.
A gust of wind blew away the worst of the remaining air pollution.
There was a final rumble through the ground.
Greetings.
The voice seemed to come from inside Analizes head. Blaze tapped her to signal everything was clear and she opened herself up again.
Before her, stood one of the great dragons. Her wings where encrusted with brown stone and rock, gems set into her mane and scales. She seemed to be made of some otherworldly stone.
Analize began to bow.
That will not be required.
"H...hello...I am..."
I know who you are. Analize Ruby Magilain.
"Yes...how did you know...?"
My brother.
"Oh...I see."
Indeed. You are the one to inherit his flame?
Analize clicked her finger. A small blue flame appeared.
Ymir sighed, causing a small, cold, sharp wind. It hit Chiron and he began to stir.
Fascinating.
Chiron sat up. "HOLY DRAGON NIPPLES."
I think you will find we do not have nipples, nor are they holy.
"Right...right...yeah. Sorry. Uh. Sorry to disturbed your beauty sleep. I mean you're a fantastic specimen of a dragon just...LOOK AT THOSE.....uhh." Chiron wasn't sure where he was going with that. "All those....lovely...jewels....?"
I understand what you mean now, Little fox.
Got a little case of the stupid and awkward. Winter was perched on the dragons shoulder.
It would seem so.
"You know I'm right here...."
Yes.
"Well...okay...."
Analize sniggered slightly. "So...Uh..."
You may call me Ymir.
"Yes...Ymir. Sorry. We came to ask you a question. Well a couple of things really."
Well I am awake now. Ask away.
Chiron was first to speak up. Ymir let Winter down and she walked over. "It's a difficult one."
Nothing is difficult.
"That's the spirit! Ana, you need to have her attitude, it's fantastic." Chiron smiled.
"Chiron, the question." She sighed.
"Oh....yeah...Particulation. What is it?"
The study of the make up of elements, of the world. Of mana.
"Uh. I see, care to elaborate...?"
Ymir did the equivalent of rolling her eyes and stomped. A few rocks floated in front of Chiron.
You are an ice mage, correct?
"Yes."
Wrong.
"How the hell am I wrong? I use Ice magic."
Have you ever questioned who you are?
"Nah, can't say I have."
You should do so. Anyhow. This is particulation.
One stone shattered into dust, it lingered in the air. The other rock floated close by, Ymir used their power to bring them close.
This is particulation. The dust is an element in this example, commonly known as oxygen.
"The thing we use to breath?" Analize question.
The very same. The rock, we will say is hydrogen.
"No idea what that is, but carry on." Chiron tried to follow. Ymir made another cloud of dust and moved that over too, she coated the rock in the thin layer, turning it a darker shade of brown.
You can control ice due to water. Water is made up of two parts oxygen and a single part of hydrogen. You use your mana to freeze it. Understand?
"No?"
Indeed, the fox was correct. You are rather dense.
He scowled at Winter he gave him a toothy grin.
What I am trying to say is you do not control Ice with your magic. You control the makeup of it. Both elements. The oxygen and the hydrogen.
"Right, I think I follow."
Particulation is the control over these elements. Earth magic is a similar concept.
"Wait, you're saying I could control earth?"
To a certain degree.
"Okay then so, if I can control oxygen and hy...y...stuff, what do you control."
Carbon.
