I wake up to the smell of pancakes filling my senses. Who's cooking? It smells delicious. I peel my eyes open and see Virgil still next to me in bed.

"Virgil? Virgil, wake up," I whisper poking his shoulder.

"Piss off," He mumbles.

"Virgil," I say again and poke his cheek. Virgil groans and pulls the covers over his face.  I sigh and get out of bed. I walk into the kitchen after putting on my slippers and take a stool at the island in the kitchen.

"Good morning, Kiddo," Patton smiles and puts a stack of 5 pancakes in front of me.

"Morning, Dad," I mutter and tick into the pancakes, "These are delicious! When did you learn to cook?"

"When I was 10," Patton shrugged flipping another pancake, "Is Virgil still asleep."

"Kinda... I tried to wake him up but he hid under the covers," I shrug.

"I'll go try and wake him and Logan then." Patton slid the now finished pancake on top of a stack of 4. I listen to Patton wake Logan up gently, "Honey, wake up."

"Morning," Logan mumbles sleepily, "I smell food... Did you cook?"

"Yeah, there's a stack of pancakes for you in the kitchen," Patton giggles. Logan speed walks out of his room and takes the stool opposite me. I watch Patton go into mine and Virgil's room. I hear the curtains being pulled back and then Virgil hisses, "Time to get up, kiddo."

"It's too early," Virgil groans.

"No, it's 11 o'clock. Up you get," Patton walks out and Virgil follows not long after. Virgil sleepily takes the stool next to me and scowls at the table, "Have some food, kiddo."

Patton pushes a stack of pancakes in front of Virgil, who starts eating the pancakes. Patton sits next to Logan and tucks in to his own pancakes.

"So what do you want to do today?" Patton asks.

"Well, we should probably relax today as we'll be extremely jet-lagged," Logan says.

"I wanna go into the pool," I say.

"It does look fun," Virgil agrees.

"There's a nice looking restaurant at the end of the road," Patton suggests.

"That's got good reviews apparently," Logan nods, "But we should probably go and get some bottles of drinking water today."

I nod and grab my now empty plate to clean it. I put it away and then go and get changed. I put on a pair of swimming trunks and a red and yellow flannel shirt. When I'm done getting changed, I leave the room and sit on the sofa coating myself in suncream. Virgil walks into our room and walks back out seconds later wearing a tight, black tank top and a pair of black swimming trunks with purple stripes with a black and white towel draped over his left shoulder.

"Do you want suncream?" I ask.

"Na, I don't need it?" Virgil shrugs.

"Really?" I frown.

"Oh, God. Which vampire cliché are you gonna bring out now?" Virgil sighs sitting next to me.

"Would you rather I didn't talk about how vampires are supposed to burst into flames or glitter or burn or melt in the sun?"

Virgil rolls his eyes, "Diamonds glitter so don't bring up that Twilight shit, Ice cream melts and Gasoline bursts into flames. Not necessarily in the sun but you get my point," Virgil explains, "Vampires aren't really affected by the sun at all it just that our abilities are slightly fucked. But not by much."

I nod. We wait for a few minutes and then Patton and Logan put suncream on themselves and we walk to the pool.

It was round and clean and new-looking. The smell chlorine filled our noses as we walked outside into the hot morning sun and stared at the pool.

"Last one in is a rotten egg!" I shout taking off my shirt and cannon-balling into the pool and then floating back to the surface.

"Don't run around the pool!" Patton calls nervously as Virgil runs to the pool taking off his own tank top at the same time and then diving into the deep end. Patton slides in after Virgil. Logan climbs down the ladder in the shallow end, "Virgil, can you teach me how to dive?"

"Yeah, come on." Virgil hopped out of the pool. Patton followed and placed his glasses on the table. I stare at my Virgil. Jesus fuck, he is ripped. How did I not see that before? And the scar. I scowl staring at the slightly pink patch of skin just below Virgil's rib cage. That slimy snake with the creepy eye shouldn't get away with that. He won't get away with that.

A huge splash brought me out of my thoughts and I look over to see Patton float to the top of the pool.

"That was a good start." Virgil nodded, looking mildly concerned, "Just make sure your finger tips are the first things to touch the water and also, one of the hardest things to do, you've got to try and keep your body straight. I know that's hard for us but it helps make less of a splash."

Patton shook water out of his hair as he hauled himself out of he pool laughing a little. He practiced diving with Virgil for a while and me and Logan just bobbed around in the shallow end of the pool.

"Do we have any inflatables?" I ask.

"I think there was a couple in the cupboard in the hall, why?" Logan replies.

"I kinda want to sunbathe whilst floating in the pool." I shrug and climb up the stairs out of the pool.

"I could read in one actually, good idea." Logan follows me out of the pool. Hold on- Did he just call one of my ideas good? I frown and turn to face him. He looks up at me with a look of confusion, "What?"

"You called one of my ideas good?"

"I believe i'm giving credit where credit is due."

We walk into the kitchen and grab a couple of inflatable donuts and a pump. After 15 long minutes we take the donuts back to the pool, and Logan has his book, and we lie down on them.
