"You know once you're in, you're in 'till death!" Remy shouts, "That means both you and the kid over there are screwed!"

Virgil looks at Patton. His eyes are a dark red colour and he's been arguing with Remy for half an hour now.

"I'm fucking aware, Remy! I know that I should not have even looked at him when I was 19 and if I hadn't none of us would be in this situation. I'd be dead. You'd be dead and those 3 would be safe!" Virgil gestures to me, Logan and Patton.

"I think you guys need to calm down a bit. It's ok, we'll be alr-" Patton starts.

"Another word out of you and I will actually through you out the window," Remy scowls.

"Hey!" Logan and I shout as Virgil hisses. Patton had immediately tensed up and Logan put an arm around him. I can't believe he said that. I stand up and walk over.

"You're playing with a fine line here," I scowl.

"Fuck this, I never wanted this life anyway," He growls and turns to Virgil pointing at him and repeatedly jabbing at his chest, "Girl, you are playing with a killer. A lier. A very dangerous person. There is an extremely small chance of any of you surviving. Someone will die and believe me when I say it won't be Damien."

Remy walks out, slamming the door behind him. Virgil glares at the door before sighing and looking down.

"I'm so sorry, Patton," He whispers.

"What for, kiddo?"

"You are in this mess because of me. There's so much I shouldn't have done. I shouldn't have spoken to Deceit in the first place. I shouldn't have gone back to school. I shouldn't have spoken to you guys. I shouldn't have let Deceit find you guys," His voice broke and a tear rolled down his cheek. Oh. I step forward and hug him, wrapping my wings around him too.

"Virgil, this is not your fault. None of this is your fault. Not one bit. So don't tell yourself it is, because it isn't." Patton walks forward and I open my wing for him to hug Virgil. Logan steps forward and hesitantly puts his arms around Virgil and Patton. I close my wings again and hold us all close together.

Virgil muffled sobs fill the room. This must be so hard on him. I can't even imagine what he's feeling right now. What did Remy mean when he said he didn't want this life? I'm so confused.

"Let's get out of the house for a bit. It might make you feel better," Patton says and I unwrap my wings.

"We could go to the beach?" I suggest and Virgil nods, wiping his eyes. We all get changed into our swim suits before taking the 5 minute walk to the beach.

It's quite a quiet beach. The busiest spot is by the ice cream stand. There's a spot on a low cliff where a lot of people are jumping into the sea and there are a few kids building sandcastles.

"Has everyone put on suncream?" Patton asks.

"Yes, dad," I nod and Logan nods too.

"I'm gonna go swim," Virgil says taking off his shirt and walking bro the sea.

"I'm just gonna sunbathe," I say unrolling a towel and laying down on it. Soon, I find myself drifting to sleep.

"Why are you doing this?" I ask but it's not my voice. It's familiar though where have I heard it?

"Because you need to learn," Deceit said. I'm are back in that room again, the one we were tied up in, but something seems different.

"I can't do it," My voice breaks and my eyes fall to a body on the floor. It's a human and the biggest thing that stands out are his eyes. The electric purple eyes. Holy shit is that Remy?

"You have to, Virgil, or he'll die and it will be your fault." Damien kicks Remy to me and I catch him. Virgil? Oh my gosh! It's Virgil's voice, just more articulate, posh. I hold Remy close.

"I can't," I whisper. Or Virgil does. What is going on?

Damien steps forward and forces my head to look him in the eyes, "You do it, or I'll kill him myself. Do you understand me?"

"Yes, Deceit."

"There we go, darling."

Deceit walks out of the room. Remy is spluttering and coughing in Virgil/my arms.

"Virgil?" His voice is weak and nowhere near as confident as it normally is, "What's going on?"

"I'm so sorry, Rem," Virgil sighs.

"Virgil, you're scaring me. What is happening?"

I flinch when Remy says he's scared. Or Virgil does.

"I'm so so sorry," I say and then bite into Remy's wrist.

I jolt awake and look around. We're still on the beach. Patton and Logan are bobbing around in the shallows and Virgil is walking up the beach, soaking wet. What the hell was that?

"Hey," Virgil says, sitting on the sand next to me. He looks at me and frowns, "Are you ok?"

"Umm... I'm fine," I frown too.

"What's going on?"

"Did you have to turn Remy?"

Virgil blinks, "Where did that come from?"

"I just had a dream-type-thing, but it was from your point of view. Deceit made you, like, turn him? I think." My frown deepens as I remember what happened, "Is that what he meant when he said he didn't want this life?"

Virgil sighs, "Yes. It was selfish, really. I couldn't stand the thought of him dying, especially a painful death like being drained of your blood by a vampire."

I nod, "You did what you thought was best."

"But it isn't what's best now, he's tied up in a mess he didn't create."

"You didn't create that mess though, you emo nightmare, Deceit started this. Also Remy chose to help us out with Patton and Deceit, you didn't ask him to."

Virgil smiles weakly at me, "Thanks, Princey."

I put an arm around him and hug him to my side, "Don't mention it, my chemically imbalanced romance."
