Two Knights Walk the Walk

Years ago when Wattpad

Was put in front of me

I thought it was a mishmash

Of words and vanity.

So I Googled Wattpad writers

And searched for poetry.

What I found was cool water in a golden cup.

Folks write'n from their hearts....fill'n my heart up.

But find'n em was by luck and chance...

Then the Poets Pub popped up.

For awhile I read beyond my fill

And delighted in new voices

Nurtured by T. S., Emily, and Will.

Fed from a river of inspired noises.

After a few starts and stalls

I got up the nerve to tack

My words to the wall.

For me, the stars meant little,

But I enjoyed the comments that came back.

And, here is the beauty part,

I got the chance to thank the poet!

I'll never get to share with Bryant

That he took me up in flight...

But, I get to let @cleomez know

That Porch is the finest kind.

Then, last year, I had an idea...

An orphan of an idea...

A burnt out Elf with wanderlust.

Bare-Knuckle write'n -

Each day a challenge made -

No one owns a character or plot...

Truly for the brave!

Hard luck came, and I fell off the saddle

Thought I'd never again see a poem chatter.

I was ready to shut down goodyarns,

Nug, Poetry Speaks, and Elf's wander'n,

When two Knights road into our ghost town.

Armed with breastplate of breadboard

And helmet of shiny sieve ...

While I was in my doldrums,

They hauled Elf out of his cups

And kept my spirits up,

As they showed me how magnificent

A friendship of words can be.

Slowly, my sight has begun to return,

But i'll never see any clearer

Then the day two writers showed me

That victory over darkness

Is the decision to have fun.

Poets Pub makes it easy

To encourage and celebrate

The purity of artistic voice...

And that is why I stay.

(As for Elf - he wanders on -

Who knows where he will land.

I'm still try'n to find,

Twixt Steve and Joe,

Who's to blame for Governess Jane.)

(Also... here's the part where I dedicate this mushy stuff to @silenttomorrows and @lyttlejoe... but they would hate that... so I won't.

So if they ask... we can all say I DID NOT dedicate this Anniversary piece to them.)
