"Hmmm" I say as Hvitserk rubs his chin
"It can't be" I say
"Ivar, trust me. King Harold is hungry for power, he might and will attack Kattegat whenever he gets an opportunity. Our armies are scattered around York and France. We are putting Kattegat in danger" Hvitserk looks at me with pleading eyes
"No Hvitserk no, we cannot retrench. We have not come this far to run away like pussies" I say as I look at the map a little harder
"With Sigurd dead, Bjorn away in the Mediterranean, Torvi and Astrid here, Kattegat is in danger. Ubbe is not effective alone, You and I both know that. " Hvitserk bangs on the table, "They are our people, they raised us!"
"Do you think I don't know that?" I look at Hvitserk in disgust, he has a habit of underestimating me

"Leave Nova, let her stay in France. When Bjorn arrives next week we brief him about our strategies. We return to North to our home and our people. That is how Ubbe, you, Bjorn and I can safe keep Kattegat. There are already whispers of King Harold attacking Kattegat soon. We have nothing if we lose Kattegat" Hvitserk says calmly
"But Nova is my wife..." I say
"And Kattegat is your duty" Hvitserk replies

I feel numb, I don't know how to leave behind a woman that I love. After-all she gave up for me, after all the pains we went through and now I am supposed to giver her up, just like that?
