My brain short-circuited for a moment, but I forced myself out of it. I ran to the Mallaidh-dragon and yelled, "hey onion breath!"

The Mallaidh-dragon stopped trashing about and glared at me. "What did you call me?" She asked through gritted fangs.

"Tell me onion breath," I dodged a blob of acid that the Mallaidh-dragon spit at me. The seats that were behind me started to dissolve. "You said you did this for your husband, but I don't see him anywhere. Do you?"

The Mallaidh-dragon took a step forward, Yukino's ice stopped growing back when I stabbed her before. "He left this to me!" She spoke quickly, not giving any chance for Yukino to shoot.

"So he ran away to safety and left you to do his dirty work?"

The Mallaidh-dragon spit out another blob of acid that I dodged. Then spit another and another. I jumped over bodies and broken chairs to escape the acid.

"See, Yukino and I do things like this together." I jumped over some rich dudes body. "We might die today, but at least we are together. You're here all alone."

"Shut up!" The Mallaidh-dragon hissed.

"Your husband abandoned you." I told her.

The Mallaidh-dragon screamed, opening her jaws wide and came at me-probably to eat me. That would've been gross. A loud piercing scream-like sound rang through the air, and an ice covered bullet was shot into the Mallaidh-dragon's mouth.

The Mallaidh-dragon stumbled backwards in shock, then when nothing happened she smirked.

"Nice try my dears, but your attempt was futile-"

She was cut off as her body started turning into ice. She stood frozen, unable to move as her whole body was turned into ice.

In about a minute, we got ourselves an ugly Mallaidh-dragon ice statue.

Yukino came to stand next to me. She'd ditched the gun and just held her katana. I took her hand and kissed the top of her head.

"We did it."

"We really did." Yukino kicked the ice statue, this time the ice didn't crack.

"Can I burn it?" I asked.

"Yes please."

I swung my chain and sickle, the blade lodging in the ice. I focused for a second and the whole statue was lit on fire. I pulled my weapon back and the two of us watched the Mallaidh-dragon ice statue melt into a giant puddle.

We stumbled out of the mansion with the four bodies of our fallen comrades. The other two teams meet us at the bottom of the staircase. They had evacuated the mansion before hand, they took the bodies away from us and placed them into the van that was waiting for us.

My exhaustion hit me the moment I got into the van. I slumped in my seat as one of my fellow lackeys treated my wounds-I got a lot of small cuts while I was on the Mallaidh-dragon, and splinters.

We got food and water and sleep on the drive to The Orders base about two hours away from the mansion.

We arrived at about 2 a.m. The base looked like any old warehouse on the outside, but the inside had two levels with lots of doors that lead to passageways connected to all of the buildings The Order owned.

I took Yukino's hand as we entered the gathering room. Everyone started at us as we walked to the middle of the room where a platform stood. There were about a hundred people there, all of whom stared and whispered. Not that I wasn't used to it, but this time it had nothing to do with our relationship or status. The air around us felt different, pity. That's what it was, pity. I was confused as to why that was though.

A with dark brown skin and short curly hair stood on the platform. She wore a long black cloak and looked at us with sad brown eyes. I knew something terrible happened while we were away right then and there.

"What happened?" My voice was barely a whisper.

"Charlotte, Yukino," the woman said carefully. "I'm Renee Brassington and I'm the head of this sect of The Order."

"Spare me the introductions!" Yukino snapped. "Tell us what the hell is wrong!"

Renee sighed. "Noises were heard from your apartment and when we went into see what was going on-we found the whole apartment was in disarray."

My eyes widened and panic washed over me. "What-what about Yarah and Alejandro?"

Renee shook her head. "We couldn't find them." She had just single handedly broke me. "All we found was a note addressed to you, Charlotte."

All I wanted to do was sob, oh, and kill someone. My daughter was missing. My main job as a mother was to protect her, and I failed. I failed and now my daughter was in danger, or worse.

One of Renee's aids took the letter from her and gave it to me. I took the letter with shaky hands, and slowly opened it. I recognized the handwriting immediately.

Charlotte,

It's been awhile, hasn't it, cousin. Last I saw of you, you were running off with the enemy. I've been tracking you ever since, but now it's time for you to track me. I have your so-called 'daughter', unharmed. But who knows how long it'll stay like that. If you want her back, you'll have to find me, and kill me.

Jack

P.S. I'll give you a hint, I'm still in the U.S.

Jack. That son of a bitch had my daughter, and I had a good idea as to where they were. . .
