When I woke up, I found a note from the order- it was a black piece of paper with the letters 'OS' on it- just laying on living room floor.
Was it really that hard to put it on the counter or something?
I just wanted coffee. Not a mysterious note that was probably going to tell me I have to do something.
I picked it up anyways, opened it while I made my way to the kitchen. I used the coffee maker- which I may or may not have begged Yukino for- to make myself a pot of coffee. The moment I had my coffee poured into my cup, I actually read the letter.
I almost choked on my coffee- again. It was a mission. Finally. There wasn't anything written saying they specially wanted one of us to do it. So, by the logic that I'm the first one up- It's my mission. Muha.
My mission was to kill the corrupt politician Yoshiro Takenaka, who has been taking money from companies, who have been violating environmental protection laws, so he will create laws that would protect these companies to continue their destruction. I get bonus points if I kill the head of some of the companies too. Not really. But I would get the chance to since the dude was holding a private meeting with some of the heads tonight at 8.
Taking my coffee, I went over to the low table in the living room and sat on one of the cushions. I heard the sliding door to my bedroom open, and Yukino came out. She tiredly walked into the kitchen and grabbed a cup, pouring coffee into it. She drowned her coffee with sugar and cream, I cringed internally at that.
She came over into the living room and sat across from me. "Good morning." She yawned.
"Morning." Things were a little awkward since the crying incident yesterday. At least, it was for me. My heart raced whenever I looked at her, and it needed to stop. Of course it didn't.
"Have you given what I talked to you about last night?" She asked.
"I just got up five minutes ago." To be honest, I completely forgot about it. She probably knew that, but she didn't say anything.
She rolled her eyes, "I know, but did you?"
I sighed, thinking back to our conversation last night.
We were in our bedroom, our backs to each other as we got ready for bed. That was when Yukino had the brightest idea to bring it up.
"So, when I got that note for my mission there was another note attached to it."
I was in the middle of changing into my yukata- for sleeping- that actually fit. I stopped dressing in confusion, waiting for her to continue because why would she mention this right now. As we were changing.
"It was a flyer about how the order has a school system, and it suggested that Yarah could go to school. Since we are in the Japanese mountain range section there aren't that many people, so she'd be in a smaller class where she'll be able to get more one on one with the teacher. She could even make some friends." Yukino continued.
I turned around to argue- I wasn't a fan of giving my daughter to a complete stranger, even more so since we are literally being hunted down. However, I got a perfect view of Yukino's naked back, her yukata was hanging loosely around her waist and barely covering her butt. My face went completely red and I quickly turned around.
"I don't like the idea." I hoped my voice didn't crack or give away how red in the face I was. Please don't let her notice.
"I didn't either, but maybe this is a chance for her to have a better childhood than we did. I never went to school, Antarctica doesn't exactly have the best school systems, and I didn't have any friends. I think this might be good for her." Yukino said. I could hear her walk over to our double futon.
