The morning of the economics exam.
Christine had to run in the shower as soon as she woke up because she felt sweaty and gross.
The warm water spraying over her body calmed her. As Christine soaped up, she closed her eyes to put herself in a semi-meditative state and worked on her breathing, just like her mother told her to do whenever she became overly anxious.
She then dressed and headed downstairs to the kitchen. As she ate, she filled her mind with positive affirmations.
I'm going to pass this exam. I will understand the graphs. I will able to apply what I've learned.
She thought about Ryan. Would he be able to talk to her for five minutes? She glanced at the clock.
He's wrapping up the film today. He'll be too busy to talk to me, she thought ruefully.
Stop it! She reprimanded herself. You're a big girl—it's about time you acted like one. Just like Ryan, I'm going to be a success too! He doesn't want to be dragged down by a needy girl. I've got to think like a winner.
