THREE: FROOT LOOPS

"I don't drink tea."

"What do you drink?" She questioned, pouring herself a cup of tea at her table.

Thor stood awkwardly in the living area, not making eye contact and trying his best to give Sòl a chance. After what she said outside, he wasn't so sure about talking anything out with anyone. It kind of hurt his feelings, honestly.

"Not tea," he answered vaguely, taking a seat on the couch and clasping his large hands in front of him.

"Okay," Sòl shrugged, sitting in a separate chair and taking a small sip. Thor was watching the television abseentmindedly, his jaw clenched, not out of anger, it was just a habit when he was tense. "Relax, Thor."

He looked at her and noticed he was holding his breath, he signed deeply, his shoulders deflating and his jaw unclenching. It felt better, but he knew he was going to end up doing it again subconsciously.

"Where would you like to start?"

"I don't know," he shrugged, "apparently it's ten years so why don't you start?"

"I said ten? I meant seven, my apologies."

He bit his lip. "If this is a—"

"I heard what you were saying outside of my door, and I'd like to apologize," she interrupted, crossing her legs and holding the cup in her lap, "so...I'm sorry. Genuinely. But, in all honestly, I've been waiting for this moment since the first incident of you being in exile."

"Why so?"

"Truthfully, Odin favoriting you so much and preparing you to take over while your brother stood in the shadows only set you up for these 'failures'," she put air quotes around the word, "it was only a matter of time."

"I was never aware of the competition when we were so young," he admitted truthfully, "I'm competitive by nature, but I thought it was because I was older."

"That may be so, but—"

"And Loki isn't as strong as I—"

"Is being king so much about strength as it is decision-making and creating safe spaces for the people?" Sòl pressed, making him shut up, "I've learned the hard way that your father was set in his ways and could not be moved. Loki seemed weaker to you because out of the both of you, only one was rightfully being trained to be king. You see where the mess started?"

"Yes," he griped, still not liking this. She really was dragging him and he didn't like it. But he did want to see where she was going with this."

"I will say, however, you've grown a lot, Thor," Sòl continued, "you are less arrogant, more tolerant, better looking, and stronger than before, but you're broken."
