TWENTY: WORTHY

"Thank you, Bjorn," Sòl smiled as the man tending his produce stand bagged her food into a paper sack and put it in her wooden basket.

"No, problem, Milady," Bjorn, a young God of Agriculture, replied, smiling at the pregnant woman, "I'm glad my produce is good enough for the King and future Queen."

She waved a hand dismissively. "Please, your tomatoes are my favorite, I wish I could grow mine like yours."

"A gracious compliment from the Sun herself," he chuckled, "thank you, miss. Be safe."

"Thank you," Sòl grabbed her basket and left the market, venturing away from the inner part of New Asgard and towards her and Thor's home. The sun was setting, and Sòl chose to walk alone because, honestly, she hadn't been having the best time as of late, and she needed some air.

For the past few weeks, Thor had been in some sort of mood, and it was very offputting for Sòl. She knew it was coming, however, because they had both subconsciously put their traumas behind them to focus on their flourishing relationship. It was easy, because they really did love and know each other very well, but there was always something that wasn't discussed solely because of the feelings behind it. Looking back at everything, Sòl realized all of their outbursts were results of things they never discussed or even cared to.

She entered her home and shut the door, walking past Thor and going straight into the kitchen. He was sleeping, bundled under a quilt and snoring lightly. She spotted the various wrappers and plates of food on the coffee table and shook her head, setting her produce on the counter.

It was no secret that Thor had gained a considerable amount of weight in the past five months, and it wouldn't bother her so much if he'd stop being a mess, or at least tried to care about himself. Again, this was all about what he was keeping inside, and she knew that, but he always brushed it off then left to play games with Korg and Miek. And to think, they weren't even married yet.

Sòl wasn't too upset, but maybe her emotions got in the way because she was very, very pregnant, and doing things on her own put a lot of strain on her and Thor seemed to not notice it anymore, too busy stuffing his face or sleeping. Or playing some stupid video game.

Sòl washed her fruit under the faucet of the sink, marveling at the rich colors of her tomatoes and cucumbers. If anything, preparing and cooking food was her favorite thing to do, especially finding recipes Midgardians often used. She liked it so much, even if she was agitated at her fiancé without him really knowing.

Thor didn't wake up for another ten minutes, shuffling in his sleep before throwing the quilt off and wiping sweat at his brow. He took a deep breath, sniffing at the air and lightly humming at the smell of freshly cut squash. He laid there for a few more seconds before sitting upright and looking to the side at his love cutting vegetables.
