TEN: RED AND ORANGE

The next morning, Sòl felt exceptionally better.

She had taken a long shower due to not doing so last night; it took a while to wash away the dirt and grime under her nails and the rain water that saturated deep into her skin and hair. She felt gross with the mix of sweat of rain, but the energy she had yesterday was almost nonexistent, even with the help of all three healers.

Thanks to Midgard, her hair felt more bouncy and nourished than it had ever been before, and she really liked the look of her hair out in a large afro, blowing in the wind and defying gravity. Like magic.

Sòl dressed in regular Midgardian clothes, a simple dark T-shirt and denim shorts. She slipped on these black shoes with holes in them—she thought she heard Korg call them Crocs one day—and headed for the door.

Asgard was busy today. The New Asgard Festival was only in a few days, and it was the talk of the town. This was the first time in a while Asgard felt like...Asgard. No longer in the original realm, but still feeling like home in a way. People risked their lives to get to this point, and it only felt right that they all let loose and have a good time for just this one day.

Sòl spotted Korg and Miek ahead, smiling at them and walking a little faster to them. "Hi, you two."

"Sòl!" Korg greeted happily while Miek retracted his weaponized limbs and turned back into the purple slug-thing he usually was. Sòl kissed his forehead and smiled at him. "How are you feeling today?"

"I'm well, thank you for asking," she replied, standing up straight and smiling, "I'm sorry I bothered you all—"

"No worries, m'lady. Thor was distraught, and I'll do anything to see you safe and him happy again."

"Thank you," she bit her lip, "thank you. I appreciate it, Korg."

"I feel like we're besties," his face was literally made of stone but any fool could tell he was smiling at her.

"Really?"

"Yeah, your best buddy Thor is at the cliff. I knew you were gonna ask because we're such besties."

"I was..." she giggled at him, "we are besties. Thank you, bestie. Send me something to cook later, yes?"

"Oh, I don't want to bother you—"

"Nonsense," she brushed it off, "I like Midgard's food choices for the most part. I'll be happy to make it for us."

"Gee, thanks Sòl!" he stepped forward and hugged her tight. Sòl grunted but giggled at his gesture, even Miek joined in, hugging her legs and resting his head on her backside. "I'll see you later."
