Fluff in your face!

••••••••••

The walk towards the school was rather nice.

Susie felt her weariness dwindle, while Kris' pain faded slowly but surely. Kris felt safe whenever Susie was around, it was like The Player's damage had no effect on him in the first place. Her presence was all he needed to drive them away.

Kris kept up a lively posture, concealing his inner conflict. But he knew it was lousy, he just hoped his smile covered most of the struggle.

Even with the feign upbeat steps, his smile rested gently as always, being quite convincing because of his experience with these situations. In a way, genuine smiles were seen very rarely, same goes for Susie.

Kris leaned against Susie as she held him firm in her grasp, the rain still falling but a bit less than earlier. Susie's embrace was comfortable and safe, something that was not felt for a long while.

Susie had a light pink dusting her cheeks, luckily for her, it was hidden by her rich, wine bangs. Kris had no idea of what their position portrayed, and strangely, Susie was fine with it.

His pain was clear and evident in his every move, gaze set in stone to a very agonized stare. She saw through it, but hesitated on helping, tough exterior still dominant over her soft side.

But in her little way she helped without knowing. Her presence was the only thing needed. Her grasp that englufed Kris was enough to persuade the nipping pain away.

They were both quiet, it was a bit tense in Susie's view, and she's had enough. She tried to spike a conversation to maybe help him without any suspiscion, "So, why are you walking today, squirt?"

Kris looked up at her, "Mom's busy."

His lack of response was troubling to hear, and Susie's concern grew. But she left it be, still very careful not to let her ferocious attitude to submit defeat.

They kept walking, steps in beat with each other's. The pitter patter of rainfall covering the lingering silence.

Kris already used most of his strength earlier conversing with Susie, and now, he had to deal with the sudden pang of his weariness and agony.

Still, he was very much grateful for Susie. The pain fading in a much faster pace, he could walk now, but the beckoning warmth and safety of her grip made it hard to leave.

He leaned onto her, and Susie felt comfortable too.

But the comfort had to leave, and her grasp left along with it as their proximity widened.

It disappointed Kris to feel her move away, but he left it be, knowing if he even peeped a complaint it would become the switch to her ferocious identity.

They were on time, much to Susie's dislike. The halls swarmed with students, both obnoxious and timid. Through Susie's eyes, they were all the same.

They headed to class with Kris having difficulty to match Susie's large steps. Susie yawned, still very tired.

His steps were cheery, and it was odd to feel it in close.

But she left it be again, wanting more to take care of herself before anyone else. The mystery of why her weariness is stronger is left for another day to be revealed.

Kris kept some distance, but he was very close still. His presence did something too. Something so undescribable.

Susie tried to scowl, but even if she did so, it was wrong. He did nothing wrong. Nothing.
