The flames were scorching. Flickering to one side, then to the other, but none even scraped the brunet's skin.

Kris walked along the path that the fire created. A soft whisper of something so sinister echoing in his ear ever so sudden, "Kris..."

This caused a shiver up his spine. The words were trying to slither into his brain, so cruel it was.

"Just a little closer..."

Kris pursued through. He knew. Oh, he knew, that everything that came crashing down today, was all because The Player finally striked their plan into full action. All he knew but the reason as to why they did this.

Walking along the path that the fire paved way for, Kris held his head up high, no sign of fear etching his expression, only that courageous aura surrounding him like light.

His shoes crunched the burnt floor, and Kris wavered, suddenly remembering how unsteady everything was at the moment. Still, he did not stop. Shaking off the hesitation, he moved onward again.

His steps weren't heavy, it was as if he was gliding, not lightly though, nothing about this situation seemed light to be handled.

Kris stopped at one part where no flames were seen as far as to the edges of the room. Kris looked left then right. Searching all over, he waited. For something, or someone, perhaps.

The walls started to crack, and Kris did not realize this until it was too late. The last thing he heard was the faint calling of his name.

"Kris!"

~~~~~~~
Back again, to the place where he wished he'd never come back.
The void.
It was darkness stretching endlessly. There was nothing, yet you could feel the air heavy with maliciousness.
Heavy footsteps clashed against the floor that the darkness manisfested. Kris felt somewhat familiar to it, and shook off that unnerving feeling, composing himself for the entity he expected.
Kris held his head high, no more fear-- although, fear cannot be helped when you're in this situation. So, somehow, it was like fooling his mind, he was courageous. Yes, he was courageous. He kept telling himself.
"Ahhhh...." The entity breathed out, their voice slightly different, it was gruff and less discordant than how it usually was. "Here we are again. What fun." They grinned in a sickly sweet voice.
Kris held his stance defensively. You can never be too careful when dealing with this sinister entity.
"Why don't we cut the freakin' chit chat already?" Kris spat out with ferocity.
"Oh my! Someone's brave today!" The Player laughed and held their head.
"Don't play games with me! Where's Susie?" Kris' fierce demeanor was suprising to say the least. To be frank, he copied this behavior from none other than the purple monster he grew attached to. Although it couldn't compare to the original-- it was needed.
Saving her was top priority.
"I don't know. She's right here." They spun around like a child. "Or there." They pointed to the stretching darkness, "Or anywhere." They smirked, laughing maniacally, voice as if it was rumbling.
