° What Are You Worth? °
It was 6 in the morning, a Sunday, and i was already awake since i had a responsibility now. I went out earlier to get some things for my sisters and at that time, i went to the pharmacy to refill Adams medication. He still wasn't awake when i got back but i allowed him to get some rest. Even then, i would check up on him every 10 minutes to make sure he's alright.
I was currently in the kitchen making breakfast while Addonis was sleeping in the crib. I figured that if Addonis was close to his father, Adam wouldn't sleep and i know he needed it. Faith sent me a text telling me they were close by and i was really nervous.
I hadn't told them about what's been going on in my life because i was scared. But i know Charity would understand because i can tell her things and she would only advise me. I've been through enough disappointment already so if they're disappointed in me now, i wouldn't feel any type of way.
Switching the stove off, i looked over at what i made which was fried chicken, waffles and pancakes with mac and cheese. I even made cinnamon tea. Overtime, I've learnt how to cook because at that time i couldn't afford to buy fast food everytime I'm hungry.
I went upstair to my room and just then, Adam was leaving the bathroom after brushing his teeth.
"I was about to take them." he said and took the pills with some water.
He was about to inject himself when i took it from him. He sat on the bed and tilt his head so i could inject him.
"How are you feeling?" i ask, gently wiping away the small amount of blood from his neck.
"Good. Are you still upset with me?"
"No." i shook my head. "I got to understand why you forgot. I made breakfast."
"Thank you. I love you."
"I love you too."
He kissed my lips just as Addonis started crying and the doorbell rang. I sighed and we left the room and went downstairs. I looked through the peep hole seeing my sisters and sighed, gathering myself and giving myself a little pep talk.
Adam picked up the baby and spoke to him cheerfully, making him giggle. Then they went to stand on the porch. Adam said it make him feel calm when they're outside.
The doorbell rang again and i took deep breaths before plastering a smile on my face and opened it.
"Hiiii." they semi-yelled in excitement, greeting me in a hug.
"Hey guys." i returned the gesture before stepping aside so they could enter with their stuff.
"Oouuu it smells good in here." Faith spoke.
"Sis you cooked?" Hope ask.
"Yeah. I made y'all favorite."
"Ugh. Thanks. I'm dying to eat some home food. I be missing Chicago's meals." Charity frowned.
"I made enough for everyone." i smiled.
"Sis who's that?" Faith pointed at Adam while laying in the couch.
"That's uhm..." i wiped my sweaty palms on my sweatpants. "That's my boyfriend."
"You never told me about him." Charity spoke while taking her coat and scarf off. She was looking directly at me.
"I know. I was scared."
"Why? It wasn't like i would judge you. It's your life but i also want the best for you."
