I stood there, gaping. Staring at the sand swirling into the air, then getting lost in the wind. The yellow sand was a brilliant way of saving demigods the work of cleaning the bodies and all but... I need proof and everything.

My mind was exploded. It was literally clear of thought, the only thing there the image of the sand blowing away. Everything I blocked out. I heard people around me, yelling to get my attention, none successful. I ignored everything, just thinking of that one memory. My mind then rushed to the memory of the chimera pouncing at me, its mouth about t spew fire at me.

Then, and only then, I snapped out of my trance and looked around with an eyebrow raised. "Wait, what?" I realized I was on my knees, holding a handful of sand. "What happened?" Chiron asked, I looked around at the people around me. Just Chiron, the Hades cabin and a few of the Ares campers including Sam. "Chimera." Chiron raised an eyebrow, I knew it was impossible, but it happened. I couldn't be hallucinating... right?

"What happened?" I looked around at the few around me, then spilled. I told them what had happened in detail. Chiron then seemed to zone out and trot away, his hoofs clopping on the ground. I watched him leave and retrieved my arrow then slung my bow over my shoulder. I was about to leave when my siblings and Sam stopped me. Everyone else slowly made their way away whispering to each other.

"Is that what really happened?" Sam said in a low voice, she showed no signs of coughing which got me wondering if she got the cure yet. "Why would I lie to Chiron?" She didn't answer, just zoned out like he did. I sighed, then walked to my cabin. Everything was so pointless, I was attacked, so what? I'm still alive, isn't that all that matters?

I sat on my bed, staring up into the bottom of my sister's bed daydreaming. What was the point of life? I understand time is an illusion and all, but what about life? This could all be some huge experiment and someone could be staring at a screen with me on it. I could just be a robot. I could just be nothing. This could all be a dream, a pointless dream for some... child! I honestly hate children. Why couldn't they be born as teens?

I sighed and sat up, then looked at the drawer beside my bunk, me and my sister shared it. I couldn't help but wonder, did Draco's room look the same? I cleared my thoughts and opened my drawer, reaching in for a book. I pulled out the phantom of the opera. This one I hadn't read yet, all I know is it's about some ballerina.

I heard small footsteps coming to my bed, I ignored them. I started to read, another thing that calmed me down. about half an hour passed before I heard my sister whimpering. I ignored it, probably her afraid of the dark, it was fairly dark in our room. Then I heard her calling "Sissy?" softly. I groaned then said, "What?" She whimpered again, then hung upside down staring at me from the top bunk. Her hair tumbled down, "Do you hear that?" I sighed and folded the tip of my page then closed my book, then I started listening intently.

Then, I heard it. Heavy footsteps clomping on the wood. "Get in my bunk." I whispered, then she slowly and quietly made her way in the corner of my bed, I then reached for my bow and an arrow on top of my drawer and notched it to the bow, then waited. Whoever, or whatever, this was, they just made the biggest mistake of their life.

I pulled the string of my bow back, then the door opened. I let the arrow fly. I saw a shadow quickly move and the arrow whizzed my the figure, leaving whoever it was unharmed. "Think before you act." It was male, I reached for another bow and notched it to my bow within a second. "Same goes for you. Never provoke a daughter of Hades." The figure laughed, a cold, dead laugh. "And how did I provoke you?" I snarled, careless man. "You scared my sister."

"So responsible. I just have to wonder, where did you get that from?" I got up and reached for my sword, then pounced. He just moved away from each of my slashes and strokes. Everything I threw at him he dodged with ease. Who was this guy? "Who... are you?" I panted. He smiled and I watched as he snapped his fingers and the two torches in our room started blazing Greek fire. Only Hades children could do that... "I am your father, and I believe I have a bit of explaining to do." Hades. That was who he was, my father. He smiled at me, it wasn't what I was expecting, it was warm and friendly.

"Start." I said sternly. He nodded and we both sat beside Penelope. "You... are not like Draco and Elektra. If I had to pick favorites it would be you two, you will know who your mother is when the time comes, not now. You are special. If I must know, what do you guys enjoy the most in life?" I sighed and thought about everything, about all the things I loved.

"Echos." He smiled at me, then we both looked at Penelope. "Um... Nature I guess?" My father seemed to smiled, then looked at us both. "You have big futures ahead of you, fun, long and full of echos and greenness." Me and Penelope smiled, then he seemed to fade away, the shadows in the room forming around him then fading away to show he was gone.

"Well then... that was somethin'." Penelope nodded, then I sighed. "I think it's time to go to bed, my little flower." She nodded and went to the top bunk, I followed her up and tucked her in. I sighed, then made my way to the bottom and slowly went to sleep. I was rewarded by a dreamless night.
