I gained consciousness.
Penelope leaned over me, tears covering her cheeks and her eyes red and puffy. The boys stood staring worried. "I didn't know gods and goddess' could lose consciousness." Toby said, I nodded. "Me to." I got up and wiped my sisters tears away.
"I guess in the future I shouldn't shadow travel with more than three people." They nodded and I looked around, we were in an alley. "Lets hurry, and hope that maybe there's like a few of them in one place." I walked away, not even looking to see if they were following. The sun was in the middle of the sky, "What day is it?" It took about five seconds before Toby answered quickly. "Wednesday." I nodded and kept walking, "Keep an eye out for a school."
We walked, men holding guns stopping us every once in a while. I pushed them aside and ignored their yells behind us. If they tried to shoot I would turned and shoot an arrow and one of them with my bow and kill one. Then they would go running.
"Over there!" Champ pointed to a place that was grey, made fully out of stone. Plenty of children ate outside on the grass. Jackpot. I walked over, to a group of kids, every single one of the kids eyed us curiously, a few looking worried. I heard some exchanging fast whispers.
"Do... do any of you speak English?" I said slowly and loudly once I was in earshot. "We all do." A small girl who looked about six said. I smiled and looked around, "Can the boys stand up?" I asked, one by one each boy stood up. I stepped closer slowly, the others staying back. I saw a few who were in the quest.
"Will and Ethan, we will grow to be great friends. Do not fear us." Ethan looked even more scared than Will. His eyes wide, his face pale. Will just had his eyes wide. Ethan looked like he was seeing my father, the devil himself. "I saw you, in my dream." I smiled, then walked forwards and took both Will and Ethan's hands gently. "It's ok, we don't mean any harm."
"Y-you can not take them!" A small boy yelled, a girl beside him grabbed his arm and whisper-yelled, "Sammy!" The boy got up, he looked about ten. "You want to take them, then you have to go through me." I looked back at the three behind me, then back at the small boy. The girl got up, her dark hair blowing in the soft wind. She was about to grab his arm again before the boy said, "Hazel, I can handle this. She hesitated and slowly sat back down.
A school teacher ran out, just as Sammy threw a punch. "Sammy Valdez!" The lady screamed, then froze as she saw me. I quickly grabbed the two children hands and ran to my group. The teacher yelled behind me, children crying and screaming. "Run!" Toby yelled, he didn't have to tell us twice, we were already running. I couldn't handle being chased, knowing it was my fault. So, I made the mistake of wishing no one could see me. Wishing this was all a dream. Wishing I was somewhere else. The next place I had to be. I made the mistake of calling on shadow travel to our next destination.
I felt searing pain throughout my body as I fell face first into the ground. Everything hurt. The pain swelled everywhere, no where was left with the glory of being untouched by the pain that felt like it would never end. The pain was all I believed in. Nothing else existed. It was hard trying to shadow travel four people, think about six. I fought the unconsciousness away, it would make me see the weirdest things like that angel again. I can't go through hallucinations like that.
I saw the sun slowly setting in the distance. It was amazing, a whole day had passed, or maybe because we were in a different timezone it had only been an hour? Maybe the sun was still rising. You just had to wonder though, where exactly were we.
It felt like days before the pain faded away, tears were dripping down my face by then and I was screaming. I sighed and rolled over, putting my weight on my elbows, and pushed up. "How long was that?" I asked no one in particular, staring at the stars now dotting the sky. "Like ten minutes, the least." I nodded, smiling grimly. "Six people is at least ten minutes of torture, I can deal with that."
"It's only because your a goddess, and because of your age."
I sighed, "I'm not in a good mood, don't test me."
Toby sighed as well, "I should leave anyways, this is your quest, not mine." And with that, he turned and walked away.
"Ok then...Let's get back to finding some half bloods, shall we?"
