chapter 8

I woke up and yawned, then saw my book on the ground. I picked it up and straightened the pages, then sighed. I saw Elektra sleeping peacefully in her bunk, then looked up and saw Penelope snoring softly in hers. I got up and went out the door, being greeted by a beautiful sunrise. I sighed again, I couldn't leave. So I closed the door and curled up back in bunk. I didn't dream, nor did I have nightmares.

I woke up to a soft shake on my shoulder. I opened one eye and saw Elektra standing over me, then she said, "C'mon, breakfast." I nodded and got up, stretching and yawning again. I watched Elektra leave the room and quickly changed my clothes. I woke Penelope up and told her to get ready, then hurried to the bathroom. I put on my makeup, bracelet, then straightened out my hair.

I hurried to breakfast, not late thankfully. I felt like I needed to do something, like i was missing something. "Oh yeah, Chiron said he needed to talk to you later." Draco said to me, I smiled to him and nodded.

I stared at my reflection from my sword, I looked so... so different. I was the only one with a cloak, the only one with a dress. The only one with high heels. This was my style, I never change myself no matter what. "Ah, Shadow, excellent."

I smiled to chiron and sheathed my sword. I hadn't brought my bow or my quiver because I was way to lazy to carry  the extra weight, heh. "I heard you needed me." He nodded and walked towards the big house, I followed behind him.

"Something... odd has happened." I tiled my head and closed my eyes, then waited a few seconds before I opened them. "I swear, it wasn't me." Chiron chuckled, "I am not accusing you of anything. This has never happened until now, and I am afraid you are being put in the middle of it all." I sighed and groaned. "Why, why do your kids do this to me Hermes."

"I am not accusing you of anything."

"Then what is going on here. I am sorry but all this is leading me to start to defend myself."

I saw something dangerous in his eyes, something I hadn't seen before. Can't back down now. "What's your point?" He pursed his lips, then told me to follow him. He led me to a pair of fold up stairs, I raised my eyebrow at him. "It's the attic, I suppose the oracle can tell you herself." I nodded before hesitating to go up the stairs, but went up quickly after the moment of hesitation.

It was shadowy, exactly how I liked it. I felt the shadows almost... huddle around me. I looked around and saw green mist around my heels, it took most of my will not to scream. "Shadow Mendez, ask away." I raised my eyebrow, took a deep breath and asked. "What in Olympus is going on."

"Shadow and Penelope Mendez, two daughters of Hades, two daughters of Aphrodite. Two goddess' that will be shown to the world sooner or later. You are Shadow, the goddess of echos. Your sister is Penelope, the goddess who takes over after pan, the goddess of nature.

"The goddess sisters will start a quest, they will pass their test. Then head to stop the big three's conflict, while finding to half blood who was tricked. They will find seven others, while the sisters care for them as brothers."

I saw the mist start to leave , then desperately said, "Wait, who are the seven? Who is the half blood who was tricked? What conflict? And goddess', really?" The mist was fully gone and I sighed, then went down the stairs of the attic. Chiron looked at me expectantly and I sighed, "More questions given than answered." Chiron shook his head, "She wasn't supposed to answer questions, she was supposed to tell you something. All the questions given will be answered in come time." I nodded and sighed again, then went to walk away but Chiron stopped me. He raised an eyebrow, then I started asking the questions. "Who are the two daughters of Aphrodite?" I wanted desperately to ask more but stopped myself, and waited for his answer. "We will see in due time. And I suspect you will be attending the campfire tonight?" I shook my head, I didn't really like going to the campfire, everyone was so cheerful. Kind of weirds me out. "I suggest going tonight." He said this in a grave voice, I quickly nodded and he smiled. I quickly made my way out of the big house, then sighed. What did I get myself into?

I held Penelope's hand as we walked to the campfire, she may be maturing in camp half blood but she will always be my little sister. I got a few stares from people but ignored them and walked towards my two friends Sam and Oceania. "Hey guys," They waved to me and smiled, I smirked and whispered to Penelope, "Look for two people that get claimed by Aphrodite." She gave me a weird look but reluctantly nodded.

We sat with our friends and a few other Ares kids and Apollo kids sat with us, the second we sat down everyone stared at us. Then my sister pointed at me. "I found one." I raised an eyebrow then looked above her head. Two things floated above, a helmet and a dove. Omigods. "Hail, Shadow and Penelope, daughters of Hades and Aphrodite." Chiron said breathlessly.
