We walked out of the trees, ignoring the strange looks people were giving us. Me and Penelope still held our bags over our shoulders, but I felt sleep wanting its attention. Wanting to be noticed. Wanting to be taken. Wanting to be wanted, wanted by me and my sister. Wanted by the group. How long had we ignored the sleep that wanted this attention so desperately, it felt like days, but it could have just been hours. Maybe we could just travel to long island to see soon?
But I wondered, did gods and goddess' really sleep? Or was I not a goddess, was I just a demigod being tricked. The gods and goddess' could be laughing hysterically up there. I pushed away all the thoughts, those stupid thoughts that were slowing me down, and continued walking.
"Keep an eye out for people walking towards us, and tell me if you suspect anyone of being a satyr or see two people walking together." I whispered to the four, who nodded slowly and started looking out for their suspects.
Monsters didn't dare come close, considering me and Penelope were here it surprised me. We were goddess'. Probably father doing us a favor. I quietly whispered "thank you father" and continued walking.
As we walked I started hearing a commotion up ahead, something that made me actually afraid. Afraid of the things I was going to face next. We turned a corner and the chaos was right in front of us. A boy was running around stealing guns from the military soldiers, who were almost everywhere we went now, and laughing. I recognized him as Spencer. The military soldiers were furious, shouting commands in a different language at no one in particular and trying to grab the boy. He was fast, dodging the few bullets that came zipping his way.
"Hey!" I shouted, then I tried to run and grab the boy, along with my small group. He looked terrified, but ran the other way, dropping the guns in his hands and going into a sprint. "Stop! We do not intend to hurt you!" I yelled, but he was already gone. His shadow disappearing as he turned to another street. I sighed and slowed to a stop. "Well, looks like this one might be a little tricky." I said as I turned to the four. "But, I do like a challenge every now and then. Let's do this."
We managed to come up with a plan. All we did was find a bag in an alley and do a bit of snooping. Apparently he was known everywhere, he was a criminal. It couldn't have been anymore obvious though, he was definitely a Hermes kid. But what made us frustrated was that no one knew where he lived, he was to fast for anyone to follow. The only possibility of finding him was tracking down his next crime, it all seemed to go in a loop. The best soldiers were sent to his next destination, of course they wanted to catch him, but they weren't smart enough to realize they couldn't just start shooting at him. They needed to make an actual full out plan, plan out all the flaws, all the possible flaws need to be erased. But we came up with a plan even stupider, we came up with shoving him in a bag.
We arrived to where we believed he was going to strike next, buff military men stood with guns guarding a tall green building. Possibly where they kept their planes, or maybe their weapons. I didn't need to know, and I didn't want to know either.
I heard the loud pang of a gun shooting. A single gun. I looked over to the guards and saw them scrambling to grab a figure zipping past them, grabbing their guns or throwing them across the road. He made precise movements, possibly from doing it multiple times or from practicing his hand coordination for hours everyday.
"Spencer!" I yelled, and he stopped. The military soldiers went to grab their guns but I yelled at them, "move and we kill you all!" And they obeyed. My arrow heads were weird, there was supposed to be a metal that could hurt monsters or something. But this wasn't it. This metal was pure white, killed monsters and mortals, and possibly immortals.
"Now." I whispered to my friends, so Spencer couldn't hear. Penelope put the bag behind her back and slowly made her way forwards. "Hey, no need to worry. I am the peaceful one of the group. Come here, I do not want to hurt you." He slowly made his way towards her, smiling. I immediately liked him. My first crush.
I closed my eyes, seconds before I heard his muffled scream. He was in the bag. "Go." I said weakly, they looked at me funny before running away from the scene.
We ran into an alley, rather far away from where we had grabbed Spencer. We poured him out of the bag, Penelope and Champ immediately grabbed both his arms. "What is going on?" He almost yelled, "Yeah, we want to know to!" Ethan said, Will nodded and crossed his arms. I sighed and looked to Penelope before explaining exactly what was going on. But I left out the part of me and my sister being immortal.
"Lies, all lies!" Spencer said before struggling to get free of my sister and Champ's grip. I started staring, he was so cute. There was a sparkle in his eyes that most boys didn't have. His hair flopped just the right way and there was a slight blush to his cheeks. Will waved his hand in front of my eyes, I shook my head and blushed. "Sorry, anyways, yes. That is exactly what I thought when I first heard of this. But it is not. We possibly have the whole world on our shoulders at this moment." I noticed Ethan was ignoring everything I was saying, sitting out of the way of the group and looking slightly hurt. I tried to ignore it and continue, but he looked so sad. I noticed the same small sparkle in his eyes. I sighed and ignored him.
"We need your help." Penelope said firmly.
"Fine, fine!" Spencer said after a few moments of silence. He looked so cute when he was annoyed! But then my mind went to that dream, that dream with that angel dude. He said I would find love or something, was this who he was talking about? Me being in love with Spencer? Maybe if I helped him he would make us be a... a thing?
I pushed away the thought and got up. "I can't shadow travel us all. Or... or can I?" I giggled like a crazy women, thinking about where we would go, if this time I wouldn't experience any pain. But I knew I would. It would be even more excruciating. But I can handle it.
"Grab on!" I said, everyone walked over to me. I noticed that Ethan hesitated before he walked over, and was the last. I screamed as I felt us being sucked away, somewhere else. I felt my knees give out and turn to jelly beneath me, and I slowly crumpled to the ground. There was a small voice in my mind, you can't! You can't just give up! Look how much you accomplished. You already got like, four of the boys in only two days! Just call for a break. Don't go to tartarus, don't. What would Spencer think? The last comment snapped me out of it, and I gathered one last bit of strength. I used it, used it like one of those military men would use his gun. "One... hour break." I said breathlessly. Then I gave into the pain, the sleep. The darkness.
