Chapter 4 - The Enemy Inside

Hope you like it! Let me know! x

When I wake up the next morning Tyler has turned to the other side of the bed and is asleep. His gun lays next to him and he looks peaceful from here. Well of course... he's asleep.

I get up slowly trying not to wake him as I get out of the bed. I walk towards the door and get out, closing the door behind me softly. I turn around and my heart jumps into my throat.

"Good morning Ms. Madeline. Would you like some tea?" He says politely. I hope that doesn't wake up Tyler and I nod hastily. "I'll be in the study." I say softly and walk through the house in my panties and his shirt.

I sit down at the desk and fire up the computer. There are two accounts on there, one called 'Guest' and one called 'Tyler'. I click on 'Tyler' but I need a password and have absolutely no idea what it could be so I decide to go onto the guest account.

Straight away I search for 'Tyler Mayfield' and a lot of results show up. There's pictures of him at events with beautiful girls, all of them twice as skinny as me, and some pictures of his rich family. I scroll down and see several news reports about him.

Half an hour and two cups of delicious tea with a cupcake later, and I have found information on Tyler.

He's twenty-four, has always been rich, had ten girlfriends so far and hundreds of hook ups.  He had driven his car into a liquor shop and purposely killed six people, but has never been proven guilty.  His favourite food is a banana split. I want to look up some more on his criminal record, but all of a sudden I hear a loud voice in the hallway.

"Where is she!?!" I hear Tyler scream at George. Before I know it he appears in the room before me and slams the door shut. He's only wearing his boxers and he has his gun in his hand, pointed at me. I quickly slam the computer closed. He is angry.

"What were you looking up?" He says. I don't answer and look up at him, not sure what to do. Tyler walks up to me and grabs my arm, pulling me so I'm standing up and he points his gun at me.

"What were you looking up!" He demands, but doesn't wait for an answer. He throws me back in my chair and flips open the laptop. The websites I had been on are still open. I can see him breathing faster, his jaw tense. I try to push my chair back but end up against the cabinet.

"Madi, don't you dare snoop around." He screams at me. "You can just ask me these things! I can't have you on the computer, you might contact someone and I won't hesitate to kill you!"

Tears pop up in my eyes. I'm scared of this horrible monster facing me. His gun is still pointed at my chest. He's scaring me and I start feeling the tears streaming down my cheeks and dropping onto my chest.

"You are not to come in this room, Madi!" All of a sudden he notices the tears down my face and he stops yelling. His face changes. The frown disappears and his eyes widen.  He looks conflicted inside, and unhappy letting his gun down beside his body.

He tries to say something but then turns walk out the room, leaving the door open. I can hear the door of his room slam shut, and the whole house is quiet. I cry harder, hiding my face in my hands. I sit down outside on the terrace, unsure of what to do. George brings me lemonade and I sit there for a few hours, standing up a few times to go dip my legs into the cold water of the lake. The sun is shining bright, but in the shade I feel relaxed. I can't stay in the sun too long anyway, because I'll sunburn, but I decide to tan my legs.

Around midday I suddenly have a great idea. I walk into the kitchen and take out ice cream. I peal a banana, slice it right through the middle and put it into a bowl. I put vanilla and chocolate ice cream on top of it. I find chocolate sauce in a cupboard and squeeze the bottle so it goes all over the ice cream.

I walk up to his door and knock softly. I hold the ice cream in one hand and wait for an answer.

"Yes." His deep voice comes from within, and I slowly open the door. He is standing by the window, staring out at the lake. He still looks conflicted. He can see the terrace from there, and I realise he could have been watching me the whole time I was there. He is wearing black suit pants, and is topless. I can see his abs and I have a mini orgasm right then and there.

"I made you ice-cream." I say softly, walking over to him quickly. I hand the bowl to him, with the spoon already inside and he looks down at it. A smile appears on his face, and for once he really means it. He takes it from me and moves the spoon around in it.

"My favourite, how did you know?" He says and takes a bite, the cool ice going into his mouth. "I'm sorry I yelled at you." He says softly and looks into my eyes. I nod, not really giving him an answer. "Can I hug you?" He asks and puts the bowl of ice cream down. Again I nod, really unsure of what he wants.

He wraps his arms around my waist and pulls me in. I wrap my arms around his neck and hug back softly, holding onto him.  I rest my head on his shoulder and close my eyes. I breathe out.

A loud knock comes from the front door. Tyler grabs me by my arm softly, making sure not to hurt me, but still pulls me with him. He leads me into the closet and holds onto the door.

"Stay here." He whispers and closes the door softly, and I can hear his footsteps going out the bedroom. I sit down on the soft carpet and rest my back against the door. I look around the room. I sigh and wait for something, anything to happen.

I hear Tyler open the door and I hear voices screaming. I wait a few seconds, unable to hear what they are saying. I hear a gunshot. There yelling goes into the distance and I hear 8 more shots being fired and a car driving away.

"Tyler!" I scream and try to open the door. It's locked and I panic. I wonder if he has died, and I start trying to open the door hysterically. I'm crying. It won't open. I scream and bang on the door. As soon as I hear footsteps I stop. Maybe one of Tyler's enemies is in the house and will kill me.

I quickly hide inside the big wardrobe with dresses in it, and close the door. I can hear the door to the room being unlocked, and the footsteps come inside. I hold my breath, scared to make any noise. I don't want to die. I don't want this to be the end. I love Tyler.

"Madeline..." Tyler's voice calls. I feel as if the world has been lifted off my shoulders although I notice something strange in his voice. He sounds weak. I press against the door and it sweeps open, faster that I planned and I fall out. I quickly glance up at him. He has a gunshot through his upper right arm and he is sweating.

"Tyler!" I gasp and get up quickly walking over to him. "We need to go to a hospital." I say. He shakes his head and walks into the bathroom.

"We can't," He says, "They'll catch me."  I follow him into the bathroom and he stands in front of the mirror. He takes out a pair of tweezers and pulls out the bullet. Pain is in his face and he clenches his teeth together. The bullet lands in the washing basin and is covered in blood.

"Here, let me help you." I say quietly, accepting the fact that I can't take him to a hospital. I hurry myself over, and take out the first aid kit from the cabinet, and start caring for his muscular arm. He watches over me the whole time.

"Who were those men that came to shoot you?" I ask when I'm done. He kisses the top of my hair and starts walking towards the door.

"The enemy." He mumbles into space, and walks out, leaving me behind in the bloody bathroom.
