Lucas had been a model for quite a few years, and he no longer batted an eye when he was told that he would be sent to another photoshoot. He always enjoyed going to them, but he didn't have a sinking feeling in his stomach from nerves anymore. He felt a small sense of responsibility whenever him and a team of models were sent to do anything, whether it be a photoshoot, show, or a small interview. As the lead model, it was his responsibility to make sure that him and the team presented themselves well.
Lucas didn't normally worry for photoshoots, he normally found himself at ease, doing what he loved. But when he stepped into that set and saw Jungwoo looking back at him, he was sent right back to the old version of himself. New to the industry and extremely nervous. He wanted to leave that building through the nearest exit. He wanted to shrink so small that his boyfriend that stared back couldn't see him. He wanted to run over to his boyfriend, and smash his lips into the other's. Never letting go.
During Lucas' run of photos, he felt insecure under the familiar eyes of Jungwoo. Overly conscious of the way he looked, Lucas micromanaged every move he made. He hoped to look good for Jungwoo.
Lucas waited for what felt like a painfully long time until the director called for the halfway break. It was meant for the models to get touch-ups to their makeup and clothing, but Lucas rushed to Jungwoo's side as quickly as he could. Lately, he couldn't get enough of that quiet, beautiful photographer. Jungwoo stood by a table of photography equipment and inspected the pieces. Lucas rushed over while deciding to congratulate Jungwoo on the promotion. He smiled widely at the latter and reached for a hug, but instead of smelling the sweet shampoo of dark blue hair, and the feeling of a body smaller than his in his arms, he was held in place by a gentle hand that pressed against his chest. He followed the hand with his eyes and found himself staring down into Jungwoo's worried and sad eyes.
"We can't here." Jungwoo hushed. Right. Lucas thought to himself. He felt a small rush of frustration. He couldn't even hug his boyfriend because of a stupid contract that kept him from the dating scene. Lucas wanted nothing more than to just show some sort of affection toward Jungwoo. He looked so nice in his black button-up, hiding behind his camera. At least they could talk.
Their conversation didn't last very long. The two made small talk until the Mode Maudelle director interrupted them by calling for the models to return to the set. Sulking, Lucas padded back to the black curtain that separated the models from the photography crew. Lucas was one of the first people to have their photos taken so he waited backstage for the rest of the shoot, pulling himself out of his perfectly tailored clothes and washing his face clean of makeup. Thankfully, the night didn't last much longer and the rest of the models returned to wash off and change. Lucas was already packed and ready to leave and knew that Jungwoo would be leaving soon, as well. He fished his phone from the comfortable jeans that he traded his dress pants for, and scrolled through his contacts until he found Jungwoo.
Wait for me outside.
Lucas picked up his things and left for the back hallways that were blocked off from the public. A few other models caught up to him and waited for the elevator to arrive. Windows lined the hallway walls around them and put the city below on display. Lucas peered through the window and watched the cars below. From the floor that he stood, they looked like small children's toys. The parking lot was full of cars and vans from the photography equipment, but one van stood out to Lucas. It was a bright white-unlike the slick black vans of his company- and had no company branding on it, like the Caller Magazine trucks. A quiet makeup artist stood beside Lucas with her travel-bags of brushes and palettes and looked down at the roads below with him. Lucas leaned toward her, so that their height levels were closer.
