3rd Person POV:
Tord watched the waves as they crashed onto his ship. It was dark out, and the moon was already in the center of the sky.
"Captain, aren't you gonna go to bed?"
Tord sighed, not feeling tired at all. "No." He said simply, not very talkative with his crew. "...Okay...?" The sounds of the waves came back. He listened to the waves, occasionally hearing a fish or something jump out of the water. After an hour of standing there and staring off into the distance, Tord heard someone. The person, he assumed, was singing. The angelic voice made him curious. 'Nobody's awake...? Who's singing?'
He could faintly see something on a large rock nearby. He was so hypnotized by the singing that he jumped off of the ship and swam over to the rock. The singing stopped, and Tord regained his senses. 'Well, that was dumb. Why would I jump off my ship like that?'
He heard a sigh and looked at the figure on the rock, who was now only a few feet away from him. It was slightly humanoid, but it had a purple tail and purple ears. The person's hands were purple too, and it had sharp fingernails.
"Oh, I just can't do it..." It said, looking pitifully at the drenched captain. Tord pulled himself onto the rock, now sitting next to the creature.
"Can't do what?" He asked, pondering what this purple person was. "I just... I... it's not right... gosh, I hate being like this..." "Being like what, exactly?" The creature perked up and tilted its head.
"What's your name, red one?" "The name's Tord. What's yours?" "I'm Matt."
The pair observed each other for a short while, both of them having so many questions. "Why... why aren't you scared of me?" "What's there to be scared of? You seem passive to me. Well, other than your nails. Those are pretty frightening." Matt giggled, and Tord found a love for his smile. "Have you never seen a siren before?" Tord's eyebrows raised. "I thought they weren't real...?" "Well, I'm living proof that sirens are indeed real." Tord hummed and nodded.
"So... why do you hate being a siren?" "What?" "You were just saying, 'I hate being like this' and stuff." Matt's smile dropped, and it nearly broke Tord's scarred heart.
"My singing brought you here... because, y'know, sirens drown unsuspecting bystanders. I just... couldn't drown you. Being a siren sucks..." Matt's hand was holding the rock, and Tord placed his hand onto it. "Well, you didn't. It's alright, Matt." Matt cracked a small smile, holding the pirate's rough and wounded hand. "Thanks..."
They both watched the waves, finding it calming. Matt laid his head on the other's shoulder, enjoying the silence. Of course, all good things come to an end.
"Captain? Captain?!" "Faen. I'd better get going before they crash my ship." Tord let go of Matt's hand, and the siren whined. Tord chuckled and ruffled the ginger's hair. "I'll see you again, right?" "I hope so..." Matt pecked Tord's cheek and jumped into the water. "Well, goodbye!" Tord blushed and nodded. "See ya." Matt disappeared into the water and Tord jumped in too.
He swam closer to his boat and yelled, "Hey, I'm down here!" The crew member, Patryk, looked over at him and gasped. "Why're you down there?!" "Oh, y'know. Just... going for a swim to wash my thoughts away."
Matt, who was not far away, watched as the captain got back onto his ship. He gazed dreamily at him, wondering when they'd hang out again. The captain left his sight, and he unconsciously held the hand the captain touched. "Until next time."
