Brianna's POV
After walking for a hour in the darkness, we took a bend and walked into a small town. It was like a little village. The lights from the stores illuminated the street. As soon as we entered, rain started to pour heavily "What?" I was not in the best attire to accommodate rain, I was just wearing a sleeveless top.
Nathan grabbed my wrist so we could run faster. He made sure our palms didn't touch and we ran to the last house at the end of the street.
It was so cold and I was shivering but the heat that emanating from his touch was something that I'd never experienced before. I wasn't too sure if Paul was still following us but this would've been good for him.
We finally reached the house that had a farm and a barn by it's side and he knocked. After waiting for a while, an elderly man opened the door with his rifle.
"Uncle, you don't need that." Nathan said when he let go of my hand and stood in front of the light coming from inside the house to let his uncle get a better view of him.
"Nathan," The man said in a meek old voice. "What are you doing here by this time? Come in, come in." He motioned for us to enter.
"Oh, i'm being rude hello dear, i'm Rick." He said to me when we entered the house.
"Good evening, i'm Brianna." I smiled to the man and shook his hand. Nathan didn't even care to introduce me. He said we should be friends but he was still being an ass.
"Darling, whose at the door". A woman about the same age as him who I presumed to be his wife came out from her room.
"Nathan!" she squealed and engulfed him into a bug hug like she hadn't seen him in a long time.
"Oh dear, you're shivering," She said when she noticed me.
She held my hand and took me to a room. They were really nice. "You can the shower in this room. They are some comfortable clothes in the drawer to change into as well."
I nodded. "Thank you."
"I didn't get your name dear."
"Brianna." I gave her a genuine smile.
She looked as if she was thinking about something. "Brianna, it means honorable and virtous, I like it." She smiled before she said,
"I'm Stella." and left the room.
I stepped into the warm and soothing shower and felt my body relax. The clothes were not my size and old fashioned but I was okay with it. I was taught to be content with what I had.
I heard a knock on the door and Nathan pocked his head in. "Are you done?" He had already cleaned up too.
"Yes and why?"
"They are only two bedrooms in this house". He said in a way I should understand what he was trying to get at.
"Well, you can't sleep in that bed with me". I said as soon as I realized what he meant.
"I think you mean, you cannot sleep in that bed with me." He snorted. "Hello? This is the time of equality."
"What happened to chivalry?"
"Ha! People would never be satisfied." He shook his head.
"Fine, let's do this fairly. Rock, paper, scissors?"
He sighed. "Sure"
I smiled to myself. When playing rock, paper scissors, the safest way to win is by playing paper. Why? Because the hand easily forms a fist when playing the game. You have to be fast, sharp and smart. "One, two, go. Rock, paper, scissors."
