Chapter Nineteen

Brianna's POV

As Andrew opened the door, everyone in the room turned to see what had caused the noise and they froze like they had seen a ghost.

Some glared at me and some smiled. My heels clacked loudly as i approached my seat next to dad.

Thankfully, Jake hadn't taken my seat like he did with my parking space. Probably because he was the one making the presentation.

Jake continued his presentation as I arranged myself and his secretary meekly dropped a booklet on my table.

I almost dropped the papers to the floor as i read the subheading.

My heart throbbed loudly in my chest as I scanned the room for him.

Last time I checked, he was in Nigeria. When i was young, my grandma would take us on a vacation to her hometown. She loved talking about her home and when we visited, they welcomed us with so much love. The youths loved having fun, they loved celebrating and their culture was beautiful. It was a good location for a hotel.

I read online that he had just finished the construction of the hotel and it was three days ago. There was no way he could be in New York. Perhaps, he sent a manager or something.

I let out a breath when I saw he wasn't in the room and listened to whatever Jake was blabbering about. Three minutes later, I became uneasy. I felt like someone was staring a hole into my face.

I looked at the chair opposite me and flinched when i saw him. Immediately, a tremendous flash of lightning appeared and a loud thunder rumbled loudly after it.

It was scary.

A vibration in my chest started. I wanted the ground to just open just for a minute so I could hide and come back out maybe later or never. I thought I was going to have a heart palpitation. Sweat formed in my hand and my throat became dry.

He was actually looking more handsome in a deadly way in his maroon blazer. Inside the maroon blazer, he wore a black satin pressed shirt with the first two beads unbuttoned. One thing I noticed about him was that he never wore a tie. I couldn't really see his waist but it looked like he was wearing a black jean.

He didn't wear his famous signature smirk. The green eyes that were once bright, appeared darker. His aura was dark and threatening.
What have i done?

His finger rested on his chin and he leaned forward when he realized i noticed him. He made it obvious to everyone he was glaring at me and i tried not to squirm in my seat.

"He's here today. He's not only our biggest customer but also, our most important investor."

Oh please, Jake is just trying to hype him so he can look good in front of the board.

Wait!!!!

He invested? I thought he was only going to purchase. The room applauded and Nathan walked to the front of the room where Jake was and gave him a handshake.

I groaned in my chair and it must've been loud because the people sitting beside me looked at me questionably.

"Thank you. I just wanted to say something. I'm here because of one person and she was the one behind all of this. She was the one who told me that investing in this company would benefit me in so many ways I could never imagine and she didn't lie. I'm very happy to be in business with you, Mr Conrad but please, thank Brianna instead.." He looked at me with a sly smile.

Dad gave me a proud look and urged me with his eyes to stand up.

"Uhm, Thank you Mr..uh...Hudson."

It was Hudson right?  I inhaled his familiar scent as I got to him and extended my hand for a shake. He looked at it for a while before he took it. That electricfying feeling never felt. It affected the veins in my hands and led it to my stomach.

He didn't let go off my hand, he squeezed my hands until his nail dug in my flesh. I tried to let go but his grip was too strong.

"That's our fearless leader. Always doing whatever will take the company to the top." One of the directors said congratulating me.

Nathan redrew his hands from mine once he noticed my eyes started tearing.

"Thank you." I answered the director and my voice came out much lower than i expected.

As soon as the meeting was over, I tried to leave the room fast like Usain Bolt but I rolled my eyes when i was called back by my father.
