When I agreed he walked off in the opposite direction of where Grillby's was.
"Um, Sans, Grillby's is..that way" I say pointing in the direction I was talking about.
He chuckles and gestures me to follow him any way.
"I know a shortcut, trust me." He says as he stretches his hand out for me to take.
I took it, I was a little skeptical but I trusted him. We walked around a corner hand in hand and Sans told me to close my eyes.
I was confused but I did. When I did so, it felt as if the ground disappeared beneath my feet and I no longer heard the sound of water.
I wanted to open my eyes but something told me not to.
After a moment, I felt floor beneath my feet again and warmth surrounded me. Faint chatter was heard as well.
I opened my eyes and saw the interior of a diner with a ar at the far wall. I assumed it was Grillby's but I was more surprised on how we got here.
I looked at Sans in shock and he gives me a crooked grin and shrugs.
I guess there's no point in asking him right now.
Sans begins to walk to the bar at the far wall. It was then when I realized we were still holding hands because I felt a small yank at my hand.
Sans seemed to notice too and we both looked at our hands and quickly let go.
"My bad heh.." Sans says and continues walking. I follow him and as we make our way the other monsters greet him.
We take a seat and a guy made entirely of flames and wearing glasses comes up.
His voice was polish and smooth but the sound of fire was a little louder than him.
"Welcome, what would you like?" He asks me.
"Oh, um....a burger please" I respond with a smile.
"Make that two Grillbs. Thanks." Sans chimes in.
Grillby nods and heads to the back.
"Wow," I say. Sans turns to me as I got his attention. I smirked at him and spoke, "That guy was hot" I said.
I didn't notice Sans was drinking out of a ketchup bottle until he choked,which was confusing.
Sans looked at me with shock then realization him him and he laughed a little. I chuckled with him.
"Geez, HUman, are getting better at your puns." He said. He put emphasis on "human" so I sat there thinking of what it meant.
Human?......human are..? Hu......man......wait.......You, man.....'You, man, are getting better.....
When I figured it out I didn't mean to but....I snorted in my laugh, which made Sans laugh and me laugh harder.
"That..was one of the worst ones you've ever said." I say catching my breath.
After a moment, Grillby came back with our burgers.
When he set them down I said, "Thanks." Then I saw steam come from the burgers and said,"Hot stuff", but.....it sounded like,
"Thanks Hot Stuff."
When I realized what I said sounded like, my face flushed with embarrassment.
Grillby's flames got a little brighter as I assume he got flustered as well.
Out of embarrassment, I grabbed my burger and began scoffing if down.
I didn't look at either of them as I ate.
In my peripheral vision I see Grillby leave and wait other customers.
I turn to Sans and he had his head in his arms laughing silently.
"Shut up...I didn't mean to say that and indirectly flirt with a pun..." I say facepalming.
"Welp, I guess if you're done we can head back home. I'm beat." Sans says.
"Aren't you going to eat your burger?" I ask pointing at his untouched burger.
Sans gave a shrug and asked Grillby for a bag. When he got it he dropped the budger in the bag and got up.
"Thanks Grillbz, put it on my tab." He said, gave a small wave and began walking.
I stood up too and gave an awkward grin to Grillby.
"Thanks, and uh....sorry for earlier. Here, to cover the food" I say and put about 20 G on the counter. "Keep whatever change there is, I insist. Have a good day!" I say and follow Sans out the door.
