A small, extra series that I am making. This series is to explain what each paranormal is based on, and what they were believed to have done and been capable of. Of course, this is but the lore that the humans believe, the actual paranormals in "The Lost:" franchise(to be) will have definite changes.
The Rakshasa: Rakshasas were believed to have been created from the breath of Brahma when he was asleep at the end of the Satya Yuga. As soon as they were created, they were so filled with bloodlust that they started eating Brahma himself. Brahma shouted "Rakshama!" (Sanskrit for "Protect me!") and Vishnu came to his aid, banishing to Earth all Rakshasas (named after Brahma's cry for help).
Generally they could vanish and had Maya (magical powers of illusion), which enabled them to change size at will and assume the form of any creature. The female equivalent of rakshasa is rakshasi.

However, the Rakshasa we all know is portrayed in a human form. Currently, his abilities have yet to be awaken, however when they do, he may just reign havoc once more. Just as though his prior self did once.
