Hackett's pov:

I would like to say, I am the most confident person on earth. The smartest. The most sexiest. I'm basically just better than every other person to ever live.

The thing is... I'm even better than that.

Or that's what I tell myself before I open my eyes.

I stare at my smooth dirt ceiling and smell the regret of the two bodies nestling in both my sides. I sigh, the unhappiness settles into my stomach.

I throw the covers off my glorious bed and the completely bare bodies shiver at the cool air.

"Get out." I bellow. Somehow each body woke up and ran out the door.

I slip out of bed and ease the covers back into their places.

Another threesome. Another feeling of dissatisfaction.

I'm not the person I use to be. I've changed so much. I'm disappointed in my life. In myself.

I pull on some old shorts and a put-together crown. The clicking of shells break the silence in the room as I hang them around my neck.

Time to make my rounds.

I swing my chamber door open into the dirt tunnel hallway. I immediately run into Aaron, my second in command.

"Good morning, Hackett." She says with a smirk.

"Good morning, Aaron." I deadpan.

"Did you have a good time with Ashley and Nathan?"

"Sure did." I grunt and grind my teeth.

"Looks like someone is in a bad mood." Her eyes cut daggers into mine.

I'm not sure why I asked her to be my second in command.

I dismiss her with a wave of my hand, but she doesn't move. "What is it." I growl.

She moves closer to me. Deceitful joy crosses over her face as she distances herself an inch away from me. "Lilith escaped." Her spiteful words fling from her mouth and land on my face. "Deana wanted to go after her. I told her no."

"Why not?" I ask her with full venom in my voice.

"Because you're the leader and you give out the orders." Some of her spit lands on my cheek. I pull away from her and wipe it off.

Now I remember why I made her second in command.

"Thank you." The sour notes in my voice disappear and I give her a smile full of gratitude. This catches her off guard and she stumbles back. I wave a brief goodbye and shuffle out of the dirt tunnel. Sunlight sprinkles down and softly pierces my eyes.

I am met with the furious face of Deana.

"HACKETT, HAVE YOU HEARD?" She roars. My eyes even-out after that shock of surprise. Glaring at Deana, I nod in response. "I'm sorry, Leader." She looks down and remains silent.

"I understand why you are upset. Though, try to not let your anger blind you."

"Of course, Leader!" Hope dances in her brown eyes.

"I want you to bring a group of guards with you..."

Deana cuts in, "I was hoping I could go on my own."

"Look, Deana, I trust you and your talents, but it will be much quicker if you have a team." Coldness fills my voice. The sudden regret I feel afterwards searches for patience instantly. I place a hand on her shoulder and I grimace when she flinches. I jerk my hand away reprimanding myself of my past and current actions. "Get the guards that were on duty when Lilith escaped. Bring Cayden and Barin with you."

Deana nods dutifully and marches off to complete the mission I just assigned her with.

I sigh knowing that something else is going to mess up today.

Author's Corner:

I apologize in advance because there was no fun facts about Hawaii this time. I simply forgot and I hope that an Author's Corner will suffice. I am a very busy person and I am doing all I can to write this story down. I hope you like what's happened so far and I would love to receive some comments. Thank you for reading!
