Cuddle fish || Feferi x reader ONESHOT

"Awww Not again.." you sigh with disappointment.

Flashback
"I'll take good care of you Hecktor!" You say with triumph as you look down at your new angelfish swimming around helplessly in his bowl
End of flashback

Now Hecktor sits belly up in the water, floating.
"What did I do wrong?"
You bang your head against the table and scold yourself. You never could keep fish alive for long, you just killed everything you touched. After flushing your deceased friend down the toilet you put on your coat and start the walk to the oh so familiar pet shop.
"(YN), Back again I see, hows Hecktor doing?" The owner asks. You give a sheepish look and sigh, walking to where they keep the fish.
"I had a beta fish, gold fish, angel fish..." you quietly mumble to yourself as you look into the brightly coloured tanks.

You jump at the sudden sound and spin to see a....a troll? You look her up and down, still in shock. She has grey skin and curvy horns and long, long black beach wave hair. Your face heats up a bit as she smiles at you, you take notice of her sharp shark teeth.
"Ar-E you looking for a finny frond?" She asks in the same cheery tone.
"Uhh, yea, um, i don't have much luck keeping them alive sadly. I really try but I guess I'm not meant to have a fish" you chuckle nervously and glance at the fish tanks. The girl smiles wider and jumps up in excitement,
"Ill gladly k-Elp you! I lov-E fish!" She says grabbing your hand and lightly dragging you to a small section of the shop that you didn't even know was there. You look around confused.
"T)(is is w)(-Er-E w-E k-E-Ep t)(-E sp-Ecial fish!" She says pointing at the larger tanks. You look in and see a bunch of exotic animals. Eels, crabs, pirhanas, pufferfish, jellyfish and more.
"Wow.." you say in awe.
"T)(-Es-E ar-E th-E littl-E guys I tak-E car-E of! Glub" She says a little softer, picking up an octopus out of its tank and petting it. You watch her once energetic demeanour change to a softer one as she handles the aquatic creatures.
"I t)(ink I know w)(at bubbly fri-End you'd lik-E!" She jumps up and down a bit and walks to a different tank. It's colourful and pretty big. You follow her over and peer in.
"Cuttlefish?" You ask seeing the small fish swim around.
"Y-Ea! T)(-Ey ar-En't r-E-Ely )(ard to tak-E car-E of"
You notice the extra enthusiasm in her voice when she talks about them.
"I'll take two" you say with a smile.
"O)(! T)(ats wat-Erful!" She smiles wide and runs off to bag two of them.
While she's gone you get the other supplies you'll need for your new fishy friends. After paying for the items you walk back to check on the troll girl,
"I didn't even ask her name" you scold yourself quietly as you enter the slightly darkened area where the exotic fish are kept.
")(i! You n-Ev-Er ask-Ed for a c-Ertain colour so I just pick-Ed two, )(op-E that's ok" she says with a smile as she holds out a (FC) cuttlefish and a pink one.
"These two are quite fine" you smile and take the two fish. She smiles back and goes to walk back to the other fish.
"Uh wait!" You call out to her. She turns around to look at you.
"I didn't get your name" you say in a slightly nervous tone.
"F-Ef-Eri" She says happily, "w)(at about you?"
"(YN)"
"I'll s-Ea you again (YN)" she waves at you and walks away.

Month later

"You're still not dead. Holy shit." You look at the two cuttlefish swimming happily in their tank as you feed them. You sit on the floor in front of the tank as they play and...cuddle? The (FC) and pink cuttlefish are indeed cuddling upon closer examination. As you're mesmerized by the cuttlefish cuddle session you hear a knock at the door.
"Just a minute!" You call out as you scramble to your feet and to the door. You quickly open the door and see a familiar smile waiting for you.
"Feferi?" You question as you look at her.
")(-Ey, I was just stopping by to ask on )(ow your littl-E fri-Ends ar-E doing" she says in a much calmer tone than what she used in the pet shop.
"Oh, you can come look at them if you want" you say stepping to the side to let her in. She smiles and walks in,
"t)(ank you"
"No problem"
You both smile at each other as you walk to the tank.
"T)(-Ey ar-E v-Ery liv-Ely" Feferi says happily, "you'v-E b-E-En tr-Eating t)(-Em w-Ell. W)(at ar-E t)(-Eir nam-Es?" She asks looking in.
"I named the (FC) one Hecktor the second and the pink one Fef" you say softly as you look with her. She stares at you for a second,
"F-Ef? Lik-E m-E F-Ef?" She asks with a shocked look on her face. You nod, feeling a blush creep up into your face. Feferi giggles and kisses your cheek gently,
"t)(ats sw-E-Et of you" She says with another giggle. You stare at the tank in thought. If you tell her would she run? Or would she stay.
"Feferi" you say softly. She looks at you and nods to signal she's listening.
"Are you free this Friday?" You squeak out. She jumps a bit in joy and giggles once again,
"Ar-E you trying to ask m-E out?" She asks with a wide smile. You blush more and clear your throat, giving a small nod.
"W)(al-E I am fr-E-E, h-Er-Es my handl-E, you can t-Ext m-E lat-Er if you want" she smiles and hands you a slip of paper that has fuchsia ink on it. Wait. Is it wet?
"I gotta g-Et going, but I woul r-E-Ely lik-E to talk lat-Er" She pecks your cheek again and giggles before walking to the door.

Another month later

"Still kicking. I swear it's not me keeping you alive, it must've been something Feferi did when I got you" you chuckle to yourself as the fish you bought over two months ago are still alive and swimming. You're taken out of your trance by the sound of someone pestering you. You turn around and walk over to the coffee table where you left it sitting for god knows how long.

You giggle like a little school girl at the thought of yet a second date with the sea dwelling troll. You've grown quite attached to her and decided to finally confess your feelings. What's the worst that would happen? Right..? You snap yourself out of your trance and begin to get ready, seeing as you haven't showered in a while..

"(YN)!" You hear her call out. You turn and smile as you make your way over across the park. You clutch the small note in your pocket as a cold sweat runs down the back of your neck.
"Now or never..." you mumble.
"So glad to s-Ea you!" She smiles and gives you a tight hug. You return it with a smile.
"this may not b-E th-E Oc-Ean but I do -Enjoy walking here" she says as she lets you go to then take your hand and start walking. After about ten minutes you stop and face the beautiful troll.
"Feferi.." you start. She nods to let you know she's listening as she looks at you with curiosity in her eyes.
"Since the day I met you, I've felt..uh..well.." you mentally scold yourself and sheepishly hand her the note.
'Will you be my cuddlefish?'
She looks at it as a smile creeps onto her face.
"This is so cut-E"
"Y-you uh..-"
"Y-Es!" She shouts excitedly, hugging you tightly.
You smile and hug back relived that she didn't run away.
"I'm glad to have you be my cuddle fish" you say softly as she giggles.
